whatever reason there ppl. Say., ultimately sufferer are the ppl. who lost their near and dear., anyways its the ppl., who are partially responsible., may their souls rest in peace.,
The tragic incident should not have taken place at all .
Misinformation, no-information and incorrect information have been the bane of the lower end of the society. This is a result of lack of education of the administrators as well as the administered public, and a lack of trust in the public information system employed by the authoriities.
Chennai, which has been recently battered by heavy rains, several times, is witness to this failed communication system. Poor dissemination of correct information to the grass roots level public has been the real culprit for the stampede.
Only the authorities can set the things right by proper system of communication, through public media with specific correct information, and correct policy decisions, instead of depending on the "mouth to ear system" for dissemination of vital information.
In addition the administrtors should also arrive at proper plans regarding help to the affected persons instead of seemingly ad hoc decisions to stop such chaotic conditions, assuming politics are kept away from such life saving assistances.
It is second such incident. It shows callous attitude of official machinery and the travails of flood-affected people clamouring for assistance.A special traininng to deal such occasions during natural disastersn is the need of the hour
I vaguely recollect another incident that happened about two years ago in a temple festival. What is it about India that public officials never learn simple crowd control techniques, do not co-ordinate with event managers to faciliate smooth operations? Is it gross cynicism about the worth of a human life, that's avaialable in abundance anyhow? Or have we lost it as a human race, in the nadir days of our supposed 5000 year old culture?
This unfortunate and distressing incident again goes to prove the we are a clumsy country, who repeatedly fail to do the basics right.
One some how feels that with every passing day, mishaps and tragedies are increasingly becoming a very casual affair with us Indians. No more are we shocked to hear about deaths and destructions.
Our incapability to get our act together will surely lead to many more tragedies where human life will be lost because of no specific reason.
Is it then wrong to say "If in India get killed for nothing".
The Governement is very generous with public money in announcing relif to the dead. What precautions were taken as one had taken place earlier. showering rs 1 lakh of public money to the families of the dead will not bring them back. This shows the plight the under prevliged are, that they are so desperate for the relif material that they do not mind killing each other or people who are not affected are trying to take advantage of the situation to get free material. This distribution should be well organised and should be to ration card holders.you say corruption is there too but at lease some controll would be in place and you dont have to die to get relif material.
It is very unfortunate that such a mishap has occured be-littling the massive relief efforts of the TamilNadu Government. In this sordid episode neither the govt nor police could be blamed a bit but only the people themselves.Irresponsible crowd behaviour and rumour mongering by the opposition has earlier too taken its toll. Not withstanding an empty treasury coupled with an hostile Central Government the people should understand and behave. The lack of co-operation of the central ministers leading to non-receivance of central aid has resulted in delayed disbursement of relief money and materials. This is a major cause for the mishap as the people may have thought that they would not get anything if they missed this opportunity and massed in huge numbers leading to the tragedy.
It is a shame that inspite of a previous case of stampede in chennai, authorities could not forcast a similat event this time.Indisciplined and frustrated crouds in the camp should have been propperly monitored
I really feel sorry for such victims who struggle for food, clothing etc. Govt. or private authorities could have arranged distribution of material weekly or even daily,in whatever manner possible to avoid such huge rush affected ppl. Such incidences are really shame on our part as Indians.Hope 1 lac help reaches soon to their kins in time. God may rest their souls into peace !
