It is all false..in current job market only perks and salaries are important ..and nothing elase..a nice boss with low sal and a rude boss but good perks and sal..and you will find people hunting still for 2nd option. It is switch off and on phenomenon for professional best way to deal is to keep office at office and personal life at home.
Its time bosses realise, besides the financial strength they have there are other factors, which come into play, while running a company.Employees emotions are often suppressed,in spite of having the knowledge and the experience.Employees come from various corporates and professional climates having braved the worth and the idiocity of bosses who are inexperienced,do not know what the corporate culture is like and above all do not have the desired knowledge to run their business. The only strength they have is the inheritance of wealth from their fore fathers. GOD SAVE EMPLOYEE'S FROM SUCH EMPLOYERS - WHO ARE TO BE TAUGHT & THEN EARN THE IRE OF THE EMPLOYER. MANJIT SINGH

A agree with you; No matter whatever happns, what steps are taken. JOB (Just Obey Boss) will remain till eternity.
Bosses are always right and will continue to be so for eternity. After all, they are the deciders - whether it comes of performance appraisal or giving a good re-commendation for re-deployment of the subordinate elsewhere
But the boss can be friendly and the subordinate still a good resource provided both are matured individuals knowing their respective shortcomings and their effectiveness well enough
This happens. When the boss is good he is taken for granted.Relationship is good but effectiveness is bad. If the boss is bad, there is acrimony, people leave, but day today job is done out of fear. In an ideal situation boss need not be bad, but the subordinate has to self propelled, k nowing the responsibilty, time conscious and result focussed. But in present worl, both are at fault. Boss fells he is super human, insensitive, arfrogant, unreasonable, abusive as well abrasive. the subordinate is indifferent, self seeking, and i dont care type. Then the problem start. One more situation is also there if you dont tell the problems to your boss they feel they are not involved and there is no problem and everything is hanky dorie. If you tell the problems to them they feel you dump your problems on them and you are ineffective. So one need to be judicious in takling the problems to the boss. Simple mantra is Try to get along or go along if both fails get out.

u r very true rajaraman..... and this simple mantra of urs works in the end, whether knowingly or unknowingly ...
This is true in TCS , Asia largest software company. TCS has several BRM's in USA who are Bas*tards and they need only bootie lickers, nothing else... Since HR is a totaaly ineffiecient team in this company, BRM's rule and no one can question them... Project managres in India have no control.. I can give numerous examples of various accounts... I am sure the situation is same in Wipro and Satyam.. Infy is better... I am sure some BRM will reply to this...

It is absolutely true. 'The leader is the one who can take his/her entire team to achieve an objective set by Department/Company. This is not happening in our Company. Bosses want authority without accountability. When question of accountability comes they simply make their subordinates scapegoat. Authority with accountability only solve the problem. Ours is a Pharmaceutical research company located in bangalore.

It's 100% true. Same with companies like Tech Mahindra, Syntel, TCS, Ness, Wipro etc. Caste & regional politics play a great role in deciding the performance. Policies are only made for show case.

Thru times in India we have always followed some one or the other,& no one could question his/her boss, you would ask Why? Because most bosses in Indian companies(also read Indian Multinationals)want followers so employees follows..right or wrong no matter , since this from board or Seniors just do it.This is Authority. When an employee does this & if there are problems the accountability will never be taken by seniors & that is where the problems are. No one (I repeat) No one in any indian entity (Banks, IT firms..etc) or their senior Management has the guts to accept accountability...They are on front pages of Business Magazines..accepting award (probably rigged ones)...talking big...i mean all CEO's , MD's ...Board . However they really dont know what shit is going on in their companies. Thru some sources I came to know that one CEO in Banking entity spends full day asking his one downs aaj ka profit kitna hai...& bank ka stock kaisa hai...If this is the case how will he ever lead the organisation or be a role model. Truth is just because you are on front page of Magazine & accepting awards means nothing. Its the psyche that needs change.
India today does not have those type of leaders. Exception ( Infosys). They can be called Global.

I want to make one more point. Everything happens at the Top & not at bottom ...so if any CEO or MD or Head -HR or even the Board of Director is reading this...let me tell you simply ...You need to change not your employees as they will take what you give them..If you give them bureacracy, they will develop that & when they rise they will do the same to the new comers...so you see it is you who has to change & make change if required.
You need to come down from that big seat of yours .
Also, In US if a CEO makes a mistake he quits (Chuck Prince - Citi), will our CEO's do the same for benefit of share holders..NEVER ...They will find scrapegoats to take responsibilities. That is how and Indian CEO's are.

The whole problem lies in lack of professionalism in Indian Corporates. In our country companies are managed in the same old age feudalistic style.I had to leave my previous job just because I demanded a decent increment after working for the company for two yeras. Without even giving a month's notice as per the agreement the Chairman of the Company asked me to put in my papers. These types of managements cannot look the issue ina broader perspective, because their vision is blurred by their cronies.

Very True. TCS's Appraisal is system is total farce.Targets for employees are set after the appraisal period is over and rating system is a mere high wash.
