I hate the Congress party more than anything in this world. I believe that they are a collection of boot-licking weak men who cannot even find a leader among them. In fact I hate them even more than the commies whose policies destroyed my state, Kerala, economically. The commies, who I hated in my college days, though are straight people with a flawed ideology. Its their ideology is is bad, the people themselves are good. The kangressis on the other hand are real slimy wife-swappers whom you'd never associate with socially.
However that being said, it is not correct to apply that hate to the nuclear deal. The deal does not bind us to anything. It just allows us to buy nuclear fuel from the NSG without being a party to NPT. It does not BAN us from testing. If we conduct tests, obviously US could nullify the deal. But that still would not make us worse compared to what we have now. We still would be able to conduct tests without the deal. So the WORST thing that could come out of this is that "if we test in future we'll be back to our current nuclear state". Tell me how's that bad. We could try this out and if it doesnt work, move on! Somebody tell me how this deal has made India a slave to the US? Accoring to me this deal can be summed up as
1 US wants to sell nuclear fuel and technology to INdia for MONEY. However it'll see only if INdia does not use the same for nuclear weapons tests. If INdia conducts nuclear tests the deal could be nullified.

Dear India The N-deal, surrendering our sovereignty. Signed on the black day All political parties are out with scams, criticisms, border war Terrorism, accidents, inter-state disputes, religious dispute, blames etc. More subjects will be born and die to keep the people busy Like the story of a dog and the bone Very soon the N-deal will be signed by our “respected PM”. With his hand tainted while making a scar on Indian democracy With a sharpened dagger Putting all hopes on foreigners, not Indians Forgetting Babha and Nehru and their vision To get nuclear energy after a decade! Projecting a glossy picture ahead.
Several discussions are over on project implementation. The deals are ready to sign including LOANS. With intriguing clauses with far reaching consequences Limiting India's interference All shrouded in the word 'confidential' To be signed in the dotted lines. The congress has no say again. They have already collected the 'share'. In between, other political parties had the share, Hope not? The details could be known via gossip alone? The whole drama will continue till all papers are signed. Looser? The dear nation- its sovereignty and independence. Gained through sacrifices of many PATRIOTS Across the country, spanning 100 years.
Start flow of FDI -abundant The share market gets a sudden boost Destined to stop when the FDI stops Feel of comfort in every field for a while. And decline in cultural values.

Dilly dallying by special interests Delay in project, call for revision of project cost Leaders of the day get the share, both sides No murmuring! Device mechanism to link unit price with inflation If not in the signed deal, technically right. No murmuring! Excuses from treasury benches, allegations from opposition. Everything moves as scheduled by the unknown Uranium shortage, excuses, blame on world market Regular revision of unit price Linked to the dictated price of Uranium Near end of Uranium supply, idling the plant Decommissioning of plants, Keep nuclear waste safe for ten thousand years Herculean task indeed!! $3 Billions per year for ten years for every plant By the present international data and standard. All finance from foreign loans. The one politicians love Defined by the words perestroika and glasnost Only in words, not in deeds.
In between the Indian financial structure crumble By awarding BOT projects Government looses all controls, Inflation rise to unimaginable levels. Wish not happen! Excuses and blames..... Destruction of cultural values built over eons God may protect us from radiation and terrorists ..... The individuals worked for the N-deal live in oblivion.
Intelligentsia, NGOs, Non political organizations, individuals Think over The people's call, Keep India united SAVE US!!
US wants to sell nuclear fuel and technology to INdia for MONEY. However it'll see only if INdia does not use the same for nuclear weapons tests. If INdia conducts nuclear tests the deal could be nullified.
2 India would like to invest more in nuclear energy for which it needs fuel from NSG. India considers the NPT to be unfair and will not sign it. India resaeves right to TEST if needed and would not allow international minitoring of its military reactors.

I agree that the deal is good for India no doubt about it especially when you consider the opposite. But you want to approach it clearly knowing that India can not test nuclear weapons without sufficient provocation (i.e. from China or Pak). i.e. India can not test nuclear weaponrey even on an experimental basis. If the scientists (as they claim) got it right first time, then this should be no concern for India because in any case, no one in the world is looking to test nuclear devices except Iran/North Korea type of countries of which North Korea seems to have abandoned its programme In any case North Korea and Iran are not a direct threat for India. If Pak or China begin to test then India has the moral right to test so the US or the NSG will not stop supply in such cases.
If India did more testing now, there would be severe economic consequences so they're not planning on doing it. In that sense, India got the 1998 timeframe right for the testing strategically speaking. At this moment in time, India is too dependent on world economy for it's survival and progress so it can not do the testing due to the consequences so why not make use of this situation.
If the welfare of India is primarily important, it's a no brainer - Nuke deal is good for India. This will also be important to find out in the open who are India's friends and enemies when it comes to NSG meeting voting.

A word on Indian politics. I like to believe that by and large, politicians have good intentions but their vision is myopic to the concerns of the populace which get them into power. But then, that is the essence of Democracy and it's better than the alternatives out there. The expectation is that the politicians at the national level keep national interest primary. In this sense both the BJP and the left have failed India and hopefully, they will be shown the boot in the coming elections.

Keep your rubbish with yourself. Last time India tested nuclear weapon, other countries started to see it with respect and the economy boomed due to offshore outsourcing. There is no link of economy to nuclear test.
