I had earlier said - this nuke deal is bad because (a) it addresses only 6% of countries need by 2020 and (b) tech offered is 40year old.
Some of the comments indicate people have been typing without reading -so for clarity I am posting this
Answers to issues raised by boarders.
1. Am I against a Nuke deal? Answer: No - I am for it - but the specific nuke deal the Cong is signing is a bad deal - read the next answer.
2. What Am I asking for? Answer: 6% by 2020 is nothing. There is no point doing a nuke deal for such a small quantity. The Govt should have gunned for 10% by 2012, 15% by 2015 - at least 25% by 2020. Remember - France generates 80% of electricity from Nuclear reactors
3. One boarder said that India can always increase the % after 2020. Answer: No - we cannot because how much electricity is generated is limited by how much fuel we get. In order to increase the % - we again have to renegotiate. This should be tough.
Before u jump into a dance on how smart Manmohan is and how India gets a great deal - think - 6% by 2020 is nothing - not even peanuts. It should have been better negotiated.

Dude, your are as ignorant as your bosses.
There is no 6% measure... right now, our reactors are running at 40% of its capacity... because we don't have quality uranium to run it... simple. This fact alone should seal the nuke deal.
The nuke deal is also about trade... 40 years from now, if our scientists can develop a nuke tech that USA needs, we can export it... can you see the light now? Just like how software engineers here are working on providing solutions, our scientists can collaborate on nuke projects from USA/France/Russia and work... its a huge opportunity for our scientific community 10 years down the line...
don't be myopic in your view like Advani and Rajnath...

Dude you are completely off track.
Let me answer you point for point.
1. "There is no 6% measure.." There is - the amt of electricity we will get by 2020 has been mentioned. Compare that with India's energy needs in 2020 - you get 6% - actually u get less - its 5. something.
2. "right now, our reactors are running at 40% of its capacity..." Answer: I have not commented on capacity of our existing reactors or their operating efficiency. Our reactors may be running at 100% - doesnt matter. This deal gives us fuel to generate 6% of electricity demand in 2020 - get it - if the demand is 100 - then nuke energy generated is 6.
3. "40 years from now, if our scientists can develop a nuke tech that USA needs, we can export it... can you see the light now? " Answers: If our scientists can create a reactor that USA would want - they would do it anyway - whether the deal is there or not. Just like our software engineers. We dont need any nuke deal.
Also I never said I am against a nuke deal - I said it should have been better negotiated. This specific deal is bad.

even by common logic, without going into any technicalities, the urge with which ms put his govt into a trust vote merely itself is a proof that ms has been an agent of usa to sell ind. doing an n-deal is not bad but favouring usa n ignoring ind is bad.

Mr.Satheesh, the facts are otherwise. Already a Thorium plant is running at kalpakkam (the only one in the world). We have enough reserves of the same. One of the hidden agenda of US is to prevent us from developing that technology.
As per a statement given by Mr. Anil Kakodkar (Chairman of Atomic Engery Commission), we have the capacity to generate 10,000 MWe Nuclear power but the capacity of all Power Plants under NPCIL is only2740 MWe. That means we are only utilizing only about 25% of our present potential.
Also we do not make even Stand-by Diesel Generating Sets meant for Nuclear Power Plants 9conforming IEEE 382). The present deal will benefit only the US Equipment manufacturers and politicians/bureaucrats who can earn fat kick-backs.
