What an action packed Movie !!!
by Charles Srinarayan on Jul 22, 2008 10:38 PM  Permalink

I bunked work for a couple of days to watch the proceedings and debates in the Parliament. I have no regrets on the work front in spite of being self-employed and thereby losing business prospects across 48 hours. It was worth that loss since I don't remember when I last watched an action packed movie that ran across two days. There were moments of climax, thrill, suspense, violence, oratory, allegations ,counter allegations, and big bucks. From the cast, a few heroes stood out (amongst them Pranab Mukherjee, Salim Chaudhary, Rahul Gandhi, PC Chidambaram and Omar Abdullah) while there were many villains, fighters and spoilers, not to forget good space for comedy from Lalooji. Probably the only ingredient missing in this wonderful Movie was SEX. The movie lived up to its billing expectations and like all action movies, there can only be heroes - in this case Manmohan Singh and his gang. If anyone has filmed this entire movie, I would like to buy a CD / DVD of the same.

Rejoinder to my last message

I had earlier said - this nuke deal is bad because (a) it addresses only 6% of countries need by 2020 and (b) tech offered is 40year old.

Some of the comments indicate people have been typing without reading -so for clarity I am posting this

Answers to issues raised by boarders.

1. Am I against a Nuke deal?
Answer: No - I am for it - but the specific nuke deal the Cong is signing is a bad deal - read the next answer.

2. What Am I asking for?
Answer: 6% by 2020 is nothing. There is no point doing a nuke deal for such a small quantity. The Govt should have gunned for 10% by 2012, 15% by 2015 - at least 25% by 2020.
Remember - France generates 80% of electricity from Nuclear reactors

3. One boarder said that India can always increase the % after 2020.
Answer: No - we cannot because how much electricity is generated is limited by how much fuel we get. In order to increase the % - we again have to renegotiate. This should be tough.

Before u jump into a dance on how smart Manmohan is and how India gets a great deal - think - 6% by 2020 is nothing - not even peanuts. It should have been better negotiated.

Dude, your are as ignorant as your bosses.

There is no 6% measure... right now, our reactors are running at 40% of its capacity... because we don't have quality uranium to run it... simple. This fact alone should seal the nuke deal.

The nuke deal is also about trade... 40 years from now, if our scientists can develop a nuke tech that USA needs, we can export it... can you see the light now? Just like how software engineers here are working on providing solutions, our scientists can collaborate on nuke projects from USA/France/Russia and work... its a huge opportunity for our scientific community 10 years down the line...

don't be myopic in your view like Advani and Rajnath...

Dude you are completely off track.

Let me answer you point for point.

1. "There is no 6% measure.."
There is - the amt of electricity we will get by 2020 has been mentioned. Compare that with India's energy needs in 2020 - you get 6% - actually u get less - its 5. something.

2. "right now, our reactors are running at 40% of its capacity..."
Answer: I have not commented on capacity of our existing reactors or their operating efficiency. Our reactors may be running at 100% - doesnt matter. This deal gives us fuel to generate 6% of electricity demand in 2020 - get it - if the demand is 100 - then nuke energy generated is 6.

3. "40 years from now, if our scientists can develop a nuke tech that USA needs, we can export it... can you see the light now? "
Answers: If our scientists can create a reactor that USA would want - they would do it anyway - whether the deal is there or not. Just like our software engineers. We dont need any nuke deal.

Also I never said I am against a nuke deal - I said it should have been better negotiated. This specific deal is bad.

even by common logic, without going into any technicalities, the urge with which ms put his govt into a trust vote merely itself is a proof that ms has been an agent of usa to sell ind. doing an n-deal is not bad but favouring usa n ignoring ind is bad.

Mr.Satheesh, the facts are otherwise. Already a Thorium plant is running at kalpakkam (the only one in the world). We have enough reserves of the same. One of the hidden agenda of US is to prevent us from developing that technology.

As per a statement given by Mr. Anil Kakodkar (Chairman of Atomic Engery Commission), we have the capacity to generate 10,000 MWe Nuclear power but the capacity of all Power Plants under NPCIL is only2740 MWe. That means we are only utilizing only about 25% of our present potential.

Also we do not make even Stand-by Diesel Generating Sets meant for Nuclear Power Plants 9conforming IEEE 382). The present deal will benefit only the US Equipment manufacturers and politicians/bureaucrats who can earn fat kick-backs.

money
by Satheesh on Jul 22, 2008 10:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If someone who is giving money, there is someone who is taking the money... both should be punished. If 12 BJP MPs switched sides to vote and according to what they say, they have got 36 crores. So, never elect BJP again, if they are willing to throw their vote for money, they will do anything to make more money.. LETS NOT VOTE BJP AGAIN

What about other than BJP? The only way is a right for voters to recall politicians who do not deliver on promises. But will this happen?

by sidhick aboobacker on Jul 22, 2008 10:26 PM  Permalink

This commis are always against any progress on its introduction. They fired so many tractors when it introduce in Kerala farmland, deolish so many computers in Banks and Insurance firm against computer implementation, Their student and youth wing in Kerala always in centre stage against any new projects.

They were against ADBs many projects in Kerala when UDF rule and now they implement the same projects they opposed when in opposition.

That is CPM. They have no ideology at all. Only thing oppose any project without going into the details of that and later implement wasting precious time and economy.

2 instead of Pre-degree education, Smart City, Express highway and many more projects they opposed now become agreed by them. Why?

Kick Mr Karat out to Orbit
by Sudip Bhattacharjee on Jul 22, 2008 10:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Ok Guys. I have a proposal. I think if we all kick the but of Mr. Karat, the combined force will be enough for him to reach the escape velocity of Earth. He will be kicked out of the planet and possibly will be rounding around Earth like a satellite. If you have enough kick to his butt, he may be sent out of solar system.

Then what?

Karat is a bad guy - ok - you are right - you kick him out - he is dead and gone - then what??

This nuke deal serves only 6% of our needs and that too in 2020. How is this going to impact anything???

This deal is bad - govt should have gunned for 20-25% of need by 2020. Hence this deal is bad.

No point fighting shadows - you will never get anywhere near Karat's backside - so dont waste ur energy...

Think

You do not need to kick him with so much force. You have to only give him enough velocity so that he escapes Indian soil and lands into China and remains permanently stationed there. He will be disciplined in China. Some of his comrades also deserve to follow the same route to be disciplined for life.

Sad Day for Democracy?
by balaji ramani on Jul 22, 2008 10:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Look who is talking about Democracy? The commies of the Marxist variety! If that is not a paradox, then I do not know what else is. These commies never tire of their agenda of forming trade unions, have spoilt 2 very good states of India (WB & Kerala - now also Tripura), have never strived for anything progressive and they have the guts to talk about DEMOCRACY?? Strange indeed is the loyalty of the commies to their Chinese masters. China has a nuclear deal with the NSG and the IAEA and the commies do not have any problems with that. China is a nuclear nation and the commies have no problems with that. But when India wants to compete with China and becoming a powerhouse in Asia the commies do not like it. Why? Because their masters, their financiers - China - does not like it.

Mr. Karat, you do not have any right to speak or crib about the downfall of Democracy since your ideology is based upon being against Democracy, Free thinking and Individualistic wealth.

Mr. Karat, go take a hike!
