by Arindam Das on Oct 18, 2007 05:06 PM  Permalink

Killers are all CABS mainly Yellow Board. Here also police has a big upper hand on them. Have you any time saw a traffic police is cathing/making fine on this Yellow Board. You can only find bikes are caught for this. Traffic police just talk to them in High volume but no punishment. These Cabs driver feels that the road is made by their own money, and only they have the permission to drive.
1. Drives Mid of the road talking over Cell phone.
2. Sudden right/left W/O signals.
3. Honking in the Signal.
4. No patient, not willing to give way to the others.
5. Tampering the Complaint Sticker

Who is responsible for all thees. IT company/Traffic police/Travel agent/ Driver. I think everyone should come up with something before these cab becomes another BlueLine History. Take it as a positive way and find the solution in every City, Not only in Bangalore / Mumbai/ Delhi...
Follow Traffic,Drive in Lane, Be Patient, Less Tension, Long Life...
After all you are living/doing such thing for a long life ...
Happy Driving...

ernakulam private buses
by Cherian jose on Oct 18, 2007 05:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The speeding of private buses is really a cause of concern for the people in ernakulam, kochi, kerala. They almost match this blue line buses in terms of no: of accidents caused on road. If it is not accident, then there is this constant hoarning from behind, which really gets on you. These private bus drivers are arrogant drivers. Can we have a system in place for this.

Calcutta's private buses are also same. It is the same story may be all over India and the reason that they are still running on the roads are also more or less same. The bottom line is, in India, public life count for nothing.

blue line
by trikarn on Oct 18, 2007 04:56 PM  Permalink

do not take all the glory for blue line buses of delhi.
in kolkata, private, rundown buses owned by individuals and run by union CITU drive at breakneck speed, and at least two persons die on a daily basis.
not one driver is caught!
if any one is caught, the union interferes and all is well.'
u just cannot beat the CITY OF JOY IN THIS MATTER!

Suggestion for Transport Department
by Naresh Chaturvedi on Oct 18, 2007 04:54 PM  Permalink

All the bus routes in Delhi to be divided into busy (where passengers are high) and slack (where passengers are less). All busy routes to be allotted exclusively to DTC buses where frequency should be 5-10 minutes. No Blue Line buses to be permitted to ply on these routes. All Blue line buses to be diverted to slack routes where frequency should be 10-15 minutes. No DTC buses should ply on such routes to avoid mad chase of capturing maximum passengers. It is seen that Blue line bus operators never allow DTC bus drivers to run buses ahead of blue line buses to get maximum passengers. Unnecessary stopping on stands should also be checked to avoid over speeding to make up lost time.

Discipline
by Proud indian on Oct 18, 2007 04:50 PM  Permalink

Atleast now people get educated,Its no point blaming the system like the mad, good looking and no brains media.
Right from today stand at the busstop in discipline and in a diffrent queue for diffrent destinations.Don't enter the road and check individually whether your bus has come or not .
try to stand in a individually diffrent queue for diffrent destinations.Don't enter the bus if he wants to stop somewhere 100 mts away from the bus-stop.
Don't board the bus if it is overcrowded and let it happen for a month .
Stop this madness of getting kikked yourself and blaming the driver.
If 97 people got killed ,you want to blame the system and driver or the bus manufacturer.
I beleive we all are educated in india now.

Try this ,i am telling you it should work or else go to diffrent city, stop blaming the city and the system.'

Killer politicians
by Ghanshyam sengar on Oct 18, 2007 04:48 PM  Permalink

Blue line buses are not run for benifit of people but they are run to make money for politicians or powerful persons who own them A bus may cost Rs.10 lakh but owner wants to make Rs.3000*300=900000 lakh Ruppes per year so 90% rate of return that is only possible if you are free to kill persons on the Road. This is the pure greed or day light robbery by owners which is killing the people and no body else.

Pathetic Roadshow
by Navin Shahane on Oct 18, 2007 04:44 PM  Permalink

I have traveled in Delhi buses some nine years back. I had worst experience of bus travel in my life then. Some instances..

1.Bus stops were horrible
2.Drivers and conductors did not have uniforms
3.The fare was not fixed
4.The stops were not fixed (Many a times driver would stop the bus as per his and conductor's liking)
5.The buses were overloaded.
6.The buses did not have proper plates for destinations marked on the front.
7.Registration numbers were in delipited condition.
8.Buses were not at all mentained properly.
9.Buses were quite polluting.
10. The most annoying fact was that Drivers would switch on the stereo player with loud volume!

I do not know if the conditions are any different now.

But, by looking at the present scenario I do not think they should be much different.

Difference of Culture
by Pune Java on Oct 18, 2007 04:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a difference of culture and the kind of people.

Look Mumbai/Pune/Chennai are also crowded cities. There also public services like BEST PMT etc. BEST and PMT are 10 times better than Blue lines.Even crowd is more cooperative than Delhities.

Because of kind of people and their culture buses at western and southern regions are much better then BlueLines.Experience it.

Hats off to BEST

Traffic Cops Menace
by leena prakasan on Oct 18, 2007 04:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why you blame only blue lines? The real culprit is the traffic police. I am routine traveler in a chartered bus and that bus has to give in each main traffic - point Rs. 300 and the sub-points Rs 200 per month and the festive season some extra and there is a police gp called %u201C5 number%u201D their bribe starts from Rs. 2000 onwards otherwise they challan it for Rs. 5000 onwards. This is the same happening in the blue line operators as they have to struggle in between the expenses (bribe, other repairs, staff salary, etc) and so the cause of the tourist buses, autos, taxis -victims of this police brigade.

Leena, does it give them the authority to drive recklessly and take precious lives?

Try to look at the broader picture.

Killer ! Hyjacked Killer!!!
by Satyan Nair on Oct 18, 2007 04:42 PM  Permalink

It is not only speed but a kind of harassment also. Blueline bus stopped at some particular stops will park there for some 15 minutes. If you get in to the bus the conductor will collect the fare immediately and compell the commuter to wait in the bus. By the time one or two DTC buses on the same route may overtake it. Since the passenger has already paid the fare he/she has to wait in the bus and if he/she protested he/she will get a mouthful of abusive languages from the conductor. This is a tactic using to increase the collection. Then once the bus moved it has to go on an overspeed to catch up with the time and it became a killer bus. Clearly this is the result of lack of organised operational system and lack of educated and well trained conductors and drivers. If Delhi Govt. has the will, it can change it easily. But alas. all bus owners are influential!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
