Expel Chinese Agents like Medha Patkar & Arundhati Roy
by A P on Aug 30, 2007 04:17 PM  Permalink

Fellow travellers of the commie snakes like Arundhati Roy & Medha Patkar want to sabotage the rise of India so that their promised land China will always have hegemony over India. They are a bunch of losers & want to make India a nation of losers. They advance pseudo intellectual arguments to hide the fact that they are serving the Chinese snakes in Beijing. If these traitors tried out such activities in Beijing they would have been carted off to the labour camps ASAP. For these anti-national people Chines & Paki nukes r great. It's Indian nukes & missiles which are threatening world peace. If these traitors had their way India would be overrun by the jehadi elements from Pakistan & Bangladesh & their Chinese masters. The time has come to do the kindest thing that can be done to these losers. Send these idiots to China on a one way ticket. At least it will spare us from their pseudo intellectual bullshit that they keep out dishing in the media. Both Ms. Patkar & Ms. Roy would never have given gainful employment to even one unemployed poor citizen of India. Instead they specialise in dishing out crap.

I agree...
by Khandu Patel on Aug 29, 2007 03:18 AM  Permalink

I came to much the same conclusion when I read the American constitution and compared it to Bharat's.

Some of you may remember VS Naipaul's writing's which parodied Bharat's efforts in technological innovation. Then we wondered whether Bharat could ever make the leap. A short few decades later, Bharat is providing intellectual capital as countries line up to tap into talent that is available in diverse fields.

Bharat's constitution exhibits much the same shortcomings. Just as Bharat's people have left behind their lack of confidence as innovators and in business, our constitution should not be a sacred cow that should not be beyond reproach because Bharat's leaders crafted it for a people whose entire history subjected them to exploitation and despotism.

Bharat's constitution stands as a thoroughly discredited document because it entrenched the Congress Party's program and ideology into it in the communist/socialist model. That ideology stands discredited in the rest of the world. Bharat's political parties contend for naked power because the constitution has usurped and pays lip service to programs, which they should be offering. It is no wonder Bharat's politics is so bankrupt.

Nuke Deal is not transparent!!!
by BahujanHitay BahujanSukhay on Aug 26, 2007 01:15 PM  Permalink

Dear Friends,Nuke deal seems to be very profitable to politicians and bureaucrats. During Enron period then CM of Maharashtra, Mr.Sharad Power potrayed picture of electricity scarcity in coming days and convinced need for such project named as Dabhol power project. Opposition that time cried foul and wage to throw the project in Arabian sea when it would come to power. Opposition came into power but instead of throwing it in Arebian sea Mr.Bal Thakre shook hand with Ms.Rebecca Mark, CEO of Enron and the project was continued. The cost to get electricity from Dabhole project was Rs.3.5 per unit whereas electricity board was supplying it for Rs.1.5 per unit. Thus the bargain was not profitable for common people but it was very profitable to Sharad Pawar and Bal Thakre. Similar is the situation for nuke deal, PM is protraying need of nuke deal citing scarcity of power in near future. Just guess who will loose and who will gain at the cost of country's sovereignity.

Stop this China argument man, leave the Leftists. Its whats in Indias best interest. Why do you bother about the Leftists. If they are opposing something doesent mean you blindly support it.
Think for your ownself, do you know the pollution levels in Indian city, have you heard of Asian Brown Haze , our kids and younger generations are dying because of pollution and all you guys can think of is blaming someone. If you doubt Leftists integrity file a lawsuit and get them convicted, dont link it here.
We are here to make intelligent decisions not just decide on something because Leftist oppose it. Nuclear energy is not good for nation and people and alternatives are available and being used in the same country with whom we are signing this deal.
Is it so difficult for you to understand the contradiction, while the USA itself is moving to cleaner energy we are opting for the old N technology.

Do you really care??
by Nishant Upadhyay on Aug 24, 2007 02:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Please consider this.

1. All alternative sources mentioned here are too costly and highly unreliable. Each solar cell produced requires more energy in its making than it promises to deliver in its whole life time. Not to mention that constant sunshine is not guaranteed. Similar are the cases of wind and wave techniques.

2. Indian public is not educated enough to take informed decisions on such matters. After all government (at least theoretically) represents same constituency, and is there to take decisions with help of qualified people on its behalf!

3. At least one of the authors is known for totally irresponsible behavior opposing very large projects okay-ed by so many experts and also endorsed by courts. It would be very kind if somebody comes up with figures (in hundred crores) of losses which she has made the Indian ex-chequer to suffer.

Nishant,
I disagree with point 1 of yours, for simple reason that Solar cells manufacturing costs are high because they are not mass produced, its same logic as computers which were very expensive and didnt have much power in the 80's.
Nuclear fuel is much more costly and dangerous, why dont you just google on net instead of asking others to provide you with figures.
If you can respond on rediff you can certainly run a google search for such information.
Govt. cannot be trusted because it comprises of people who have extremely dubious track records as well as political class in India has been famous for its corruption.

Authors have a point
by Sincere Citizen on Aug 24, 2007 12:06 PM  Permalink

These authors have a point about abundance of natural energy sources in India, but frankly their credibility as authentic source as well as successfully solving problems doesent exist.
For. eg. Medha Patkar is seen more as an hinderance to growth related projects rather than safeguarding Indian citizens interests.
Ideally NGO's which fully understand and comprehend the drawbacks of nuclear power should work with govt. to give alternatives and take up projects and successfully implement them. This will not only increase their credibility but will also assure their critics that valid and cleaner alternatives are available and can be practically used.
Already states in the US like CA are opting for using Solar energy to generate electricity and its a viable alternative.
The costs come down when mass usage happens, and also Nuclear energy is not cheap by any standards.
