Bengal is a very small state with 100 million people. Hopeless case. Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana. These are the only states with any future.

Having lived in Bengal for many years, I think I can understand the problem it's facing today. To blame the commies alone would be too simplistic. True, commies are solely responsible for the terrible work culture prevailing in bengal today, but the commies have also managed some credits. Bengal today is more or less a caste-less society, a great achievement by any stretch of imagination, which is unthinkable in any other part of this country. This is also partly due to the commies. An average bengali is easy going, laid back to the point of being lethargic, bit of a cynic, and revels in arm-chair intellectualism. The commies have only capitalized on these traits of a bengali and used it to their advantage. The Bengalis have only themselves to blame for the mess they find themselves in. Having said that, I must also say Bengalis are great thinkers and creative artists, and culturally are miles ahead of most Indian states. I am sure Bengalis would rise to the occasion and one day get rid of these negativities plaguing their society... commies included. That would indeed be the beginning of a golden period for Bengal. I love bengal!!!

Bengalis are mostly philosophical im-born philosophical and thats the reason we never think about SC ST OBC unless there is a news in the paper.

Do not forget 90% of the caste and fanatic problems are created by journalists, not politicians. Think properly. News papers are more dangerous than Abdulla Bukhari, or Mayavati. If they decide to remove castism from india, it will be removed completely in five years.

To that extent, commies have played ball with a caste-less bengal. It is true that bengal has produced great thinkers and revolutionists like Raja Rammohun Roy, Vivekananda, etc. But of what use is talking about the past when we live in the present. I love Bengal as much as any other Bengali but I am really saddened by the ills confronting the society in Bengal today. And I repeat, blaming it on the commies alone would too simplistic. After all, who voted the commies to power repeatedly?

Bengal is caste less NOT because of Commies. But because of philosopher, thinkers like Sri Chaitanyadev, Swami Vivekanand.
CPIM plays caste politics in Kerala.
Commie historians made caste primary axis of indian history.

On the mark Tathagata...Bengal have been casteless due to its great thinkers and the spread of education before the rest of India. Even Bengali women have been in the forefront long before their Indian sisters. No Commie can match the wisdom or depth of Swami Vivekananda, Chaitanya, Rabindranath, Rammohun Roy, Ishwar Chandra, Ashutosh Mukherjee or the great Bengali scietists who spread rational thinking way ahead of others. Commies destroyed the Bengali ethos, leave alone making it casteless !
