Let me add few more points to the already posted information. Many kannada friends why the Hogenakkal has been chosen for the project and not mettur. Mettur reservoir is surrounded in the north by Shervaroyan hills, the meeting point of eastern ghats and a part of western ghats. It is practically impossible and extremely expensive to lay huge pipes thro' these mountains. Morover mettur is in lower riparian region than Hogenakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishanagiri districts.
Secondly, Hogenakkal can be the only ideal place from where huge quantities of water can be pumped due to its depth and its eastward inclination towards Dharmapuri. So the TN project is entirely genuine and valid

You seem to have done a lot study before expressing your views..otherwise most people especially Kannadigas tend to argue based on perception and prejudice rather than hard facts. It is undeniable that while TN has always taken the legal route to resolve the problem, Karnatak has fought the issue on the streets showing utmost contempt for rule of law, the constitution of this nation and the basic tenets of fairness and justice. Mr Krishna will be remembered as a CM who defied the Supreme Court and the tribunal and was righly censured by the Supreme Court. Now the same person talks about procedures, cooperation ad what not !! Karnataka politicians have used "talks" as an effective way to avoid a solution to the dispute. The TN CM should not fall prey to such tactics.instead he should complete the project with a firm resolve.

TN always take cases as sentimental and have issues with kerala too. Mullaperiyar is a fit case here. Tamilnadu want water butt do not want to bother about safety of people and condition of a 100 plus year old dam built with lime and surki. If TN is sincere, first thing they should come for a one to one talk and agree for a new dam and show to people that they care for human life also instead of making arguments at all levels.

as long as congress has a chance of winning in south, no problem will be resolved no matter how apparent the solution might be. a congressi rule in any state only means that that state in vulnerable to silly divisions. elect a bjp govt if you are serious about solving monumental problems. learn from other bjp ruled states - it is common sense decision at this point in history.

Mr. Parekh, Its BJP that fuelled this already settled issue ahead of Karnataka's election for votes. No party is interested in solving any issue for that matter, whether its BJP or Congress. They gain only by fuelling people sentiments, creating rifts among different communities and erode the very basics of democracy. These issues should be left to concerned people like farmers, geologists and engineers(for ex,in Hogenakkal dispute) to solve the matter more scientifically than emotionally. Another mode of functioning for these parties to keep people ignorant of the facts so that they react more emotionally rather than introspecting. I believe this to be modus operandi of politicians in creating enmity between KN and TN people.
