SECULARISM first signs of progressive society
by stav on Feb 17, 2008 12:26 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If one is truely hindu :
1. He understands the purpose of religion is to go inward and not make it a political force.
2. One understands truth has many sides to it, one should take up a path most best suited for himself and will have the common sense to understand that people are different and may chose differently.
3. One does not give centralizing powers which includes Political parties, pseudo religious organizations (RSS, VHP, monkeys (bajrang dals) to which will use you for their own dirty ends.
4. Atleast practices yama and niyama which include tolerance, expansiveness, inclusiveness, truth and above all ahimsa (which is much more than just nonviolence).
5. Does not confine himself to narrowness of cults such as christianity, islam, narrow castes and organized hinduism.

If one is truely secular then one is truely hindu.

Hinduism is the only religion which is continuosly regenerating itself. You can say reinventing itself. All other religions are static exactly where they were started.
Hindu religious reforms were explained by many a historian. The truth is that devine beings are continiously taking birth in Hiduism ,influencing not just we Indians but the entire world. Everything that is modern ,in every age,of mecahnical, techinical, rocketery and IT age, every modern concept is absorbed and becomes a part of the old !! a tradition unbelievable.
We have today very core, age old, traditional hinduism's most raw form represented by Mata Amritanandamayi and a breathing science or Rekhi etc., represented by Sri Sri Ravishanker.
A few years ago we had the modern age's most modern guru called Acharya Rajneesh preaching science of sex which was actually part of the old Tantra and Kundalini.
Rajneesh was most modern and yet a part of the oldest myths of Hinduism practised long since by great Tantriks.
So is "sudarshana chakra" vidya of Sri Sri Ravishankar who is influencing the whole world of its thought and relgious understanding or pracitce.
Not very long ago We had Maharshi Mahesh Yogi who brought out the transcendental meditation technique.
Hinduism is ever growing , all encampassing, all knowing highly matured religion which can answer even a perticular individual's problems as well as his thirst for sprituality.
All others are only cults , only dogmas, narrow minded beliefs.

"Which one is modern? Use your brain?"
Are you saying, that history is completely linear ?
Egyptians and Atlanta were far advanced than the Greeks,
Greeks were more civilized and intellectual than Romans, Romans were more civilized than the Huns, mankind deteriorated up to 500 AD only then civilization started to grow again. 500 AD was the darkest times ever in human history. They used to stone people for adultery then, eye for an eye was the law at those times. Yes we are modern now and it is time we get out of dark age philosophies.

Hinduism does not make foundations on personalities like islam or christianity. Infact those who base their hinduism on historicity have completely missed the point, yes such hinduism based on historicity is going to be absolete just like islam and christianity. hinduism is about methods of interiorization and all these mythical tales are sending exactly that one message. the Self has not changed though time changes hence even its philosophy of the Self will not change, which is hinduism. As far as majority people converting to islam is concerned, they dont take into account the number who are leaving and not declaring for safety reasons. Moreover, majority mentality has never been wise mentality, on the contrary it has been just the opposite. Stupidity has to fully rise before it ends, that is what is happening to islam.

To be frank there was no separate race, All migrated from Centrol Asia, one while searching for safe place to live, one group cross sahyadri hills and came towards south india like- Karnatak,TN,AP,Keral.and others were stayed near to Indus & then scattered towords north india.THESE IS NO EVIDENCE FOR DRAVIDIAN RACE, BUT your friend Karunanidhi Has eveidence for Political benifit.
but there is cultural and language differences like- Kannada, tamil, maleyalam, telugu.
IF YOU CONSIDER THESE 4LANGUAGES ARE DRAVIDIAN, THEN TELL ME the roots of OTHER INDIAN LANGUAGE LIKE- Oriya, bengali, manipuri, assami etc ???

1) President Dr. Zakir Hussain during a Milad mehfil at Munger held on 20.11.1949 said: "It is totally false to allege that Sangh hates or attacks the Muslims. In fact, Muslims also must learn mutual love and respect, co-operation and skillful organisation from the Sangh".

2) Chief Justice Of India Shri Koka Subbarao on 25.08.1968 at Bangalore, said, "Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is creating national consciousness and cohesion-through self-reformation and mental and physical discipline. It has now become a household name throughout the country and everybody recognises the selfless service it is rendering to the people. The Sangh has also been striving to rejuvenate the Hindu tradition-which has always allowed all faiths to be practised without any discrimination. This is in fact the essence of secularism. Therefore accusing the Sangh as anti-secular is meaningless".

3) Field Marshal K.M.Carriappa at Mangalore, in 1959, declared: "RSS work is my heart's work.... My dear youngmen, don't be disturbed by the uncharitable comments of interested persons. Dr. Hedgewar, the revered founder of this great organisation, has set before you a bright example of selfless devotion to the service of our motherland."

TARUN, KEEP IT UP, IT TAKES TIME - INDIAN ARE ON MOVE
by Mahendra Patel on Feb 17, 2008 11:02 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Tarun,

we have to keep flame alive, as GURU parampara, or as Chanakya did to regain his status through
Chandra Gupta Maurya by dedicated training a child to emperor. So called "SECULAR" in INDIA will vanish like mist vanish when SUN rises.

What will it take? to INVOKE NATIONALIZM IN PSYCHE OF INDIAN IS TO GO BACK TO OUR ROOTS, PIN POINT FAULTS OF NARROW OUT LOOK- HERE IS GOOD EXAMPLE, LOOK AT UGANDA ONCE A FLORISHING COUNTRY SINK INTO THIRDWORLD COUNTRY, WHY THEY
THOUGHT THEY CAN THROW OUT UGANDAN-INDIANS MINORITY AND STILL FLOURISH AS NATION? WELL "AMCHI BOMBAY" THREW ONE TIME GUJARATIS AND THEY SAW THE ECONOMY WENT SOUTH JUST A REMINDER.

What we need is for HIGH-SCHOOL, make it compulsory to TRAVEL ALL STATES DURING SUMMER VACATION- SUBSIDIZED BY CENTRAL GOVERNMENT, JUST FOR STARTER.

When- GANDHI came from AFRICA, TILAK ADVICED HIM TO TRAVEL WIDTH AND BREADTH OF INDIA BEFORE
HE PLUNG INTO POLITICAL -FREEDOM MOVEMENT. SO DID ADVANI. That's HOW we create NATIONAL IDENTITY BOTH IN LEADER AND CITIZENS.

LOVE INDIA

Mahendra,
your ideas are very interesting. Ultimately it boils down to only one issue namely revamping the present education system to reinvent India for Indians; to liberate them from the colonial mindset and make them see the vibrancy of our civilization and proudly own it.
Textbooks should be standardized so that the contents are uniform throughout the country.
Even in the post-independence era, we had been only projecting diversity and not unity for fear of admitting the Hinduness in our cultural life.
It is nice to know that there are people who strongly believe in the oneness of this great land

another article on religion!
by Arun on Feb 17, 2008 10:43 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I completely agree with the broader point of the article that everyone has to be treated equally irrespective of their ethnicity or religious affiliation. Although, hearing it from a RSS weekly writer is a new find. I cant understand why he, in a totally irrelevant way, links religion to this topic. Our constitution reinforces equality, but on the ground there will be some adjustments for minorities or low caste, oppressed people. It is common in every country - In USA, even the private American companies and universities implement positive discrimination. I understand it should be made clear that such engineered opportunities should only be temporary, and the problem of creamy layer should be handled. However, ranting about SC/ST quota is absolutely pathetic. Calm down Mr. RSS, focus your efforts on Valentine's day bandhs!

well, you wud learn only if it backfires. Cant you easily see the similarity between the RSS/BD in Gujarat and MNS in Mumbai. Both think they are protecting the "traditional and cultural roots" and commit violence against migrants. Your quote (assuming their authenticity) are fine as RSS was a totally different organization when it started, but go to the streets of Bangalore, you will see how stupidly they march for anything. Again, I have a great respect for Indian culture and I am proud to be part of it, but if you are going to say we are an organization who will 'protect' the cultural roots, it is nothing different from Islamic fanatics defending Sharia as unchangeable god-given law!

be realistic Mr. Arun,it is like asking man eater tiger to eat human flesh for a short time and then to become vegetarian.People are people onnce thay get easy money and opportunities,do you eally think thet will give up after a while?
In US problem of majority and minority is not as complex as india, thus it is easy to maintain track and transparancy of these matters.
for SC/ST ,encoragment should come through tution waiver, free books and stationary, extra tutions, monthly schollarship and not through reservations.Aid should motivate them to do hard work and should not spoil their habbit(thats how you promot curruption).

Ofcourse yes - thats where the creamy layer comes in - you make it a law to track these developed people and remove them from gifts.

" In US problem of majority and minority is not as complex as india, thus it is easy to maintain track and transparancy of these matters."

well, it is definitely different when India hasnt still cracked down on shameful untouchability and discrimination. There are lot of temples all over India which doesnt allow lower caste and untouchability is ramphant. So, quotas make more sense to dissolve these social injustices than US.

I agree fully with your third point - however they are already in place - tuition waivers, aids, etc. You can evaluate the progress.

Tarun Vijay never talked about that Racism is all created by politicians of India not by people of India.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS) is older(1925) organization then ShivSena(1966) actually all ShivSena sanik follow same ideology of RSS.
You can say RSS and ShivSena are cousins.

I dont know anything of Tarun's educational and professional background.

His article sounds more like from an arrogant, illiterate Bhaiya on the Mumbai street. Why dont you write an article that details a plan how to improve all the BIMARU states especially UP and Bihar so that they dont have to come to Mumbai and live a life that is worst than an animal. UP and Bihar is a drag on India and you are from one of these states.

Please dont bring religion in to every topic. If religion could solve all the problems in the world, the world would have been a better place to live a long time ago.

We are all discussing the symptoms of a big problem and that is population, poverty, illiteracy, exploitation etc. I havent seen anyone discussing or proposing anything that solve these problems. If you want to prevent what happened in Mumbai not to spread to other places you need to give the people a life, hope etc.

It is a fact that everybody in this world has a right to live a respectful, dignified life irrespective of their gender, caste or religious affiliations. So I request everyone to write something constructive and not waste time criticizing or blaming others.

Jai Hind
