by Nostra Damus on Feb 13, 2008 03:32 PM  Permalink

First the court said that police protection cannot be given to witnesses, now this ! Oh where has people lke Krishna Iyer, Anand all gone ? The Court was the last resort of the common man against the might of the beaurucrats and politicians, but now...it is sad day for our 'democracy' or is it 'Feudocracy'?

it is some kind of a temporarily relief, based on persistent stand of the govt. in support of the illegal structures, till the final verdict is delivered (how long - none can predict)

LAW & ORDER has become fun in the country. it is the mighty who prevails. the Apex Court is now allowing desealing. it means that the sealing and demolition carried out earlier was not correct. who is responsible for the loss to those, who suffered earlier. residents and shopkeepers, both are still uncertain and despite a lot of loss of public money, there is no solution to this problem even yet. there should be a clear policy. people of Delhi are being befooled.

Do u ppl think they sud b done homeless again? sud they thrown out? all relted questions r there.. can u ppl reply to me?

Hi Anand,

We are NOT discussing those hapless guys who bought flats from builders. We ARE discussing desealing of those premises illegally run in the residential localities. Clear zones are earmarked for conducting business and these people, in collusion with MCD/NDMC officials & greedy politicians are trying to make a fast buck putting other residents in the area under great inconvenience. We lauded Supreme Court for its bold stand in sealing those premises (albeit partially) but now I do not know what to say!!

Principles of Natural Justice
by C.V.RAMAN IYER on Feb 13, 2008 02:08 PM  Permalink

Ultimately, albeit temporarily, money and political power won !!! Congress should make uniform policy of issuing notification / circular / etc. permitting everything illegal which has happened till date to be legalised. By this count, they can mint money and won the next general elections. Court cannot then say, partial or after thought. this is principles of natural justice - what ???

APEX COURT SOFTENS STAND
by narendera gupta on Feb 13, 2008 02:07 PM  Permalink

While I have deep respects for our Judiciary, I hold that the decision of the Apex Court is being treated as CASUAL by the owners.

By doing so, the fervour which was built by the local authorities in checking erratic construction activities will have no checks.

The Apex Court may have a relook at the decision after viewing it from the affected residents of NCR. The same traffic problems, law and order situations would reemerge.

Panic in Congress
by deepak sharma on Feb 13, 2008 01:02 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

There is panic in congress to survive in this country. They have realised that congress has no future. Bapu wanted to dissolve this party in 1947 but Nehru retained it for his own means, and later the trend followed. There is no leader left in congress so TOI is asked to launch "Lead India". may be congress can ride on the back of media celebrity now.

Congress know that after last 4 state election it is definitiely they are not going to come into power in delhi too. So it is reverse order to de-seal. Indian public is not a fool.

SC cannot live outside society. If rules are made to promote beuracracy and courts always say following such rules are justice, then God help the nation. It is quitre clear that govt bodies are moving away from society realities like teh MCD but at least the SC started coming back. Now lets see if they pull up MCD by asking why is it that when demand and feasibility exists, why were these plans not approved in the first place?

democracy
by Kulbirsingh Datta on Feb 13, 2008 12:24 PM  Permalink

The present UPA Govt. is conducting governance as it suits them; may it be for votes, making money, political power/supermacy. It is a managed democracy.
