Let us wait for Father of Missile Dr, Kalam's announcement on 26th.... Something will come out. I am sure.... US will not keep his mouth shut on China. India is the most favorite nation for USA. See this war between civilzations. US Capatalist has chosen India as a safe heaven for the security of their capital. How can they let it go so easy while the question has came to communism?
It would probably be more discreet for us to send up "killer satellites" that could be launched as such or as part of regular satellites. These could then be manoeuvered close to the targeted satellites and either detonated or using smaller missiles shoot down the targets. Also those Indian sats that have passed their "best before" dates could go into sleeper mode and be simimarly used, provided that they were armed for this role. There would be no detectable launches from the ground in times of crises, no waiting for 'launch windows'and rapid knock outs. A good account is given in the book: Pakistan to Burma: the Rebirth of India (Manas, New Delhi, 2005) written by me. The technology is not complex and could be deployed at much lower cost that using ICBMs etc
India should aggresively move ahead with developing more advance weapons. It should form allies with friendly countries like Russia, Brazil, Israel. It should also develop military alliance with countries which are neighbours of Pakistan, China and Bangladesh to keep pressure on them

I dont think Pak is a big treat to India in any means...much bigger issue is China...we are just more concentrating on Pak as we need to ignore China because our babu's think it is too big to handle.
When it comes to security, it should get high priority than anyhting else. Our leadership is totally blind at this aspect and go behind the development ignoring what our neibhouring countries are doing. Having a neighbour like china itself is a threat to India. Let our defence strategists plan for a superior system which protects the nation and its assets( on ground or in space) from any attack.
India should openly form an alliance with the US and its western allies. That would be the only way to counter the Chinese/Pakistan/Bangladesh axis in SouthAsia. When countries like Turkey and Saudi Arabia can be firm allies of US and Pakistan itself is a major Non-Nato ally then what prevents India in playing a willing US Ally role in Asia? That will firmly put China in its place and make it understand that India means business. Frankly India is to China what Pakistan is to India. We have limited resources and power to actively confront China in foreseeable future. Only security for us from China is to play the strategic geo-political game against China. That's what SouthKorea, Taiwan and Japan do against China. There is no reason for India not to follow these East Asian countries' lead.

Hello General, How far do you trust US on the issue of pak? and western allies on the issue of china? best option is to be prepared ourselves without depending or alliance for security.

As you said, its time for India to be more vocal about world politics...I dont understand why are we so dam scared in expressing our views about what is right or wrong...when it comes to China we are chiken for sure....
Thanks for a very informative article on the subject. Few days back, there was a dismissive statement from one of our central ministers on this subject. One wonders if our government has any will to prepare our nation for this continuous threat from North. We seem to be very defensive about criticising China. No less alarming was the interview with our National Security Advisor M K Narayanan who was extremely defensive about any criticism of China. Mr. Narayanan felt comfortable in finding fault with our own media in order to defend Chinese position/statements. I wonder why we are so chicken when it comes to confronting China with the facts. India needs to aggressively address any move by China to corner India. Except the communists in India, I am sure most of the political parties will support government efforts. The least, the government can do is to come out with an official response to this development and ask the defense services to advise the government with a plan to address China threat in a comprehensive manner. We at least need to know how much it will cost us to keep at par, if not get ahead, with China.
China is not to be trusted. No one has forgotten the Sino-Indian Border War 1962. The breach of trust should stand as an example forever, especially with the non- cooperation of China in the talks held with India. Everything indicates that India should be cautious and not have to repent its lack of efforts when everything is so in the face.

Agree with you. As most of you know, what China says is that each and every part of main land China will be regained at any cost.Example, Tibet did anyone raise any issue about this, no. China is also amining at Nepal and may be in future parts of India as well. Moaist in Nepal and India may be driven by China as a slow poisioning, which might kill Indian unity one day and may have upper hand for China..Indian gov. should learn more on this issue, so that i can be handled before it becomes uncontrolable.
