Very good Judgement by the Supreme Court. There is no need of reservation in the Elite educational Institutions. All eligible candidates can write Entrance Tests and proper examination,if pass, then join the institutions. There are no difference between OBC OR SC OR ST OR GC. All are human beings and all have brain and intelligency. Think about rural villagers who has no electricity..water..home..proper food..proper education..schools..garments..Their children has no protein food..milk..medicine..They are crying for food..they are also Indians Think about them. Reservation problem ko maro goli..
The day caste based politics is stopped by our political parties in India, only then will we can progress at a greater speed. It's quite sad that, a handful of corrupt politicians, are holding a population of over a billion to ransom. WAKE UP INDIANS.
This is only a tenporary reprieve and not a permanent solution for this problem. One permanent solution that won;t be accepted by any one is: Have a time bound (Say 10 years!!) plan to bring the social equity. For that, start with the lower most sections of the society in all aspects money, education, job etc. And STOP ANY RESERVATIONS AFTER THE STIPULATED PERIOD AND NO MORE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS TO INCREASE THE DURATION.

There is nothing new or unique in this idea. When reservation was introduced, it was supposed to be for 10 years. It failed miserably for the following reasons (among others): 1) 10 years is too short a time frame. A generation is considered to be about 30-40 years. In human history, Social equity (whatever that means) has never been achieved in one generation, leave alone 10 years. 2) People who benefited from reservation wanted it for their children and grand-children. It was a free ticket to money, fame, success and comfort. 3) People who didn't get it started fighting for it, irrespective of whether they deserved it or not. 4) Politicians, who have a myopic view when they are not totally blind, were happy to oblige as long as they got the votes. 5) No party had the spine to demand cessation of reservation after 10 years.
All in all, your idea is impractical. It has already been tried once and found severly lacking.

Thanks.
I don't think it is impractical fromthe point of reducing social inequity. But I do agree it almost impossible to implement this in the current political milieu. I am hoping that there would be change in political scenario for the better. Again I am also aware that it would take 30-40 years to reduce social inequity. We already had reservation for nearly 5 decades, one more decade of sincere implementation would be worth trying, Stretching anything beond that would reinforce the feeling of simmering reverse-social-inequity.

Have you heard of Raktha Bijasura? There is no point hanging these one by one. More will come - Remember VP Singh, any one? These democratic elction politics will never allow such great benefits to be withdrawn - Remember all partis are afraid to say anything against reseration lest they loose the precious votes. Only Fools would shoot thir own legs and politicians are one of the smartest people in the world.
It is all very well for us to dump on our politicians for their corrupt practices. But, why are the political leaders corrupt? It is simply because they come from the same population pool as you and me, and this pool contains more than its fair share of corrupt people. Stated simply, a significant percentage of our population is either already corrupt or would be corrupt when given the chance. Corruption is a way of life in India, be it when you deal with government or the common man. The politician who takes the bribe is corrupt, but so is the autorickshaw driver who demands more than the metered fare. So, to be painting this picture that only politicians are corrupt, is not only inaccurate, it is also delusional. Wake up to reality. Indian society is corrupt. And, the political leaders who are as much part of the society as anyone else, is therefore naturally corrupt. A society deserves the leader it gets. A corrupt society cannot expect to be led by clean leaders.

Couldnt agree more. Nicely said.I fight my battles all the time when I step out of my house and am unafraid to state my opinion, but I dont see anyone else protesting. Why are we so fearful ?
Supreme Court decision is great for the deserving youth of the country and it is slap on the faces of political scoundreal those who are taking the country to ransom..Nation becomes great by efficieny, merit and talent a nd not by SC/BC and OBC certificates ..you cant make any body doctor/engg or IAS because he/she was born in a particular family..
Can the judge please stand up and order that Arjun Singh be publicly hanged at India Gate (what a good use of space) for the sake of this entire nation ? He is a threat to national security, amongst all other things.
I wonder how this Adam always gives consent to his Madam! This Adam is educated(highly), while the madam was a good for nothing waitress!
waise talking about higher educational institutes, does the Madam even know thr full form of IIT, IIM and AIIMS? does she even know the entrance exams which are held for these institutes? and has she ever seen the papers that are set for these competitive exams? i guess very few politicians have either, otherwise they would have known that there is no question in the papers which say 'Are you an OBC? or SC/St - you have the following options to choose from----" etc...
I think this is a good judgement. Affirmatory action shouldne be on basis of birth caste/religion but on the merit of students and their economic conditions. Alternatively for far too long our political parties have been using caste and religion to divide this country without a care for the damage done to the society and the threat to integrity of this country. I wonder if they can be tried in court of law for anti-India activities, working against the interest of the Indian state. They all seem to be commiting such crimes repeatedly. Why is Arjun Singh still free after that dowry case against him ?
