Its a good decision taken by TN Govt.Reservation based upon population, because this 5% Brahmins have taken 80% jobs from class I to Claas IV.

By extending your logic 17 % Tamils in Sri Lanka should get only 17 % of everything (why are they fighting for a home land, 7 % of Singapore Tamils should that share of jobs education etc., Are you ok with it. Extending that even further, in one billion population of India, Tamils are 60 millions (6 %). Are you ok to get that share of everything in India ?. Yeah, ask MK to agree to less of Cauvery share.

Hello Kumar,

You got a point but that not it. Tamil issue in SL is something similar to Brahmin's in TN. One of my relative who was in Colombo doing business used tell me how much was their dominance whether in business/Govt jobs. In his view this dominance started in British Era. The similarities of Tamils in SL and Brahmin's in TN stops here. Sinhalese couldn't take it after certain point and what they did was not human. Giving more rights to the oppressed is way different from taking the rights from those dominating for no fault of theirs. In TN, the Brahmins still enjoys equal rights as other caste people because of the underlying fact that we are all Indians. However in SL, Tamils were treated as foreigners (may be true in Fiji to some extent) and were oppressed beyond apprehension. Many brahmins could workaround the reservation system in TN by moving to Bombay/Delhi and other parts of the country. This worked better for them as they always learned Hindi which was denied to others by the same MK. But SL Tamils had no such choices and also they are as much Srilankans as their fellow Sinhalese are.
What I really wonder is that given the history of TN Brahmins wouldn't you expect them to be sympathetic to SL Tamil cause? In reality the migrated Brahmins are the ones who are more rhetoric in their offense against SL Tamils. Instead of supporting SL Tamils, what is happening here is what usually happens when yesteryear daughter-in-law harassing the present-day daughter-in-law!

Hi Arun
At the outset, let me tell you that, what happens / happened to SL tamils is inhuman and Tamils (some groups) are equally inhuman too. That said, I pray for both the Tamils and Sinhalese to have a peaceful life soon.
But coming to TN, you statement Brahmins have a work around - a solution by going to other state - is sort of amusing. So, if in Engg, Medical or other institutions or even schools, jobs etc., Tamil speaking Brahmins are eliminated, you suggest they migrate to other states ?. Your words should be music to Dravidian parties and they will nominate you head a Commission. Already, Brahmins are eliminated from most of the State Engineering premier institutes (I am not talking about private colleges), State Govt jobs. What is left of Brahmins in Tamil Nadu are mostly old people. Good for them, most of them learnt Hindi and other languages and are doing well elsewhere.

Hi Kumar,
This is reply to Kumar Bhargava:

Have you been to TN before? I have lot of friends who are Brahmin and many are woking in TN government jobs. All my friends do not hate TN as you have mentioned.
The so called media hype that Brahmins are sufferring in TN is untrue. These things exist only in Mr.Karunanidhi's mind.
Infact he hates more the other dominant castes such as Vellalars, Thevars, ... etc [I belong to one of the above said caste].
As a person from near his native place [Thiruvarur], I can understand the humiliation he could have faced, because of his back ground [ He is from Musician family]
He does not have guts to show it openly. You can check with any of these caste people.

In our [today's] generation we hardly have any ill-feeling towards Brahmins and vice versa.

Regarding the Reservation, you like it or not it is going to exist. In fact it helped many socially downtrodden people and some are also affected by it.
Rather than opposing reservation, we need to think as a forward caste, what we want and how we can avoid the ill-effects of the reservation.
Brahmins and other FCs have lot of influence in the government to push for actions, as per their recommandations.

This will help create or should I say maintain the cordial relation ship in TN.

I request people from rest of India [outside TN], to understand the social realties in TN and then comment.

As a christian, I think Tamil christians do not need any reservations except that the Dalit christians should be given reservation as per their Hindu counterparts.

Thanks.

Good Point. Everybody has to have a fair share.
Bramins are not the only cast. If Brahmins don't
like other cast stay back in India and do not
work for outsourceing jobs and do not go abroad, because most of the them are Chrisitans.
