The judgement on the case was pathetic with no scruples to even punish the culprits known to the court and the public. Each and every officer investigating the case should face the same problem and only then they will know the consequences of such a pathetic judgement which breaks one and all in the family.
I think it is high time the public come forward and adopt the policy of eye for an eye, because we cannot expect any loyal judgement from the higher ups.
I sincerely condone the judgement and all my condolences with the family.
Every individual who gives a judgement should keep in mind that this can happen to us too.
There is so much more to say about how bad the social/civil investigation, our judicial system and the underlying practices. In the end we have two choices, silently bear with it untill we face an unfortunate episode when it happens with our kith and kin or to raise questions about this kind of a system and raise a hue and cry.... and wait till the revolution builds enough to cause a difference. Its a long call, but in our favour if we can manage to cause a difference. sometimes its not too proud to be an Indian. My condolences to Jessica's family and to the million other Indian's victimised by the powerful, rich or otherwise.
Even if the court is unable to prove the guilt for all the reasons known (and unknown), the fact can not be brushed aside that the murder did take place, in front of people. I hope the judiciary does not keep quite and pull up the investigating agencies for not being able to do thir job properly. How can a broad daylight murder be brushed under the carpet like this? People will otherwise loose whatever little faith they had in the system. The whole episode has been heartbreaking.
The rich friends of the "accused" do have the money but what they lack is conscience. They do not possess the courage too. Witnesses turning hostile? Have we not heard this bullshit time and again in many cases including the one of Salman Khan. As Indira Jaising pointed out, even law abiding people will definitely look to more meaningful and in their opinion "just" methods to settle scores. Our judicial system needs a thorough overhaul! Which part of government system doesn't?!
Also defence lawyer of accused is major culprit..... Lawyer should work for the truth and justice but not for money, he is ment for defending the truth.
It is a big blow to all of us the way case has been handled by the police and the way our judiciary has given their judgement. We can well imagine what will be future of poor pepole like Jessica. Only elite will rule this country and poor will be deserted. We will only chant MERA BHARAT MAHAN jhan sab kuch hota hai.
When I read about the manner in which the culprits in the Jessica Lal murder case managed to get away, it reiterated the fact that our Judicial and Police have lost the confidence of the people of India, as they are unable to maintain law and order. We have only our votes to change the people in power, to people with a strong desire to uphold the laws of our country. Our country's freedom movement saved us from the British Raj, but in its place we as voters have brought back the princely state system where we regularly vote for and put into positions of power, the descendants of a political leader, making them believe they have a divine right to be above the law. I only hope education will dispel this myth from the minds of the voting masses. I hope people with a conscience will question this judgement, or powerless people, seeking justice will be forced to resort to taking law into their own hands out of desperation. We have seen it already happen in the case in a Nagpur court, and in the way people immediately lynch criminals and dacoits instead of letting them slip through the huge gaps in our judicial and Police sytem.
