PM is selling India to USA, he is begging for Nuclear fuel Uranium and siding Iran who once to be India's good friend in middle-east. He is devoting his more time on foreign policy then on domestic affairs which is bad for India. I think his inclination towards USA is because of her daughter, who is a USA citizen thats why he is giving dual citizenship for USA citizen. But in turn his USA counterpart Mr.Bush is not raising H1B visas and also want to harm India's nuclear policy. So it is only give give...no take take...bad Mr.PM. You are really selling us....
While it is clear that being a non-aligned country, we should not take sides on an issue merely because of another country's economic/defence prowess. In addition, the FDI rolling in from the Indian diaspora, as reflected from our foreign exchange reserves, may make it imperative for the PM to be very cautious and suitably adapt our foreign policy based on the current situation without making any blanket generalization. The other point is that, our brethren abroad are "burning the midnight oil" which, in turn, would reflect on the calibre of the "Indian Psyche and its enormous potential". Their emotional attachment would also compel them to contribute and do their mite, however little it may be, to the welfare for their country of origin.
It seems that the whole foreign policy establishment of India has been messed up into Pro or anti-US warring factions. The sanity, however, can be achieved by becoming pro-India. Our non-alignment was tilted towards Russia, certainly with the insinuations from the US. As a-matter-of-factly we stood by the cardinal principles that NAM cherished for except aberrations like Soviet aggression in Afghanistan. Nehru was a dreamer, so as the Indians but dream can be fulfilled with wise exercise of merit and hard work. In the complex dynamics of an emerging multi-polar global scenario India needs to contemplate and act sensibly for generations to come. Our success will be measured by the happiness of the posterity, our genetic investment. The menace of terrorism, triumph of democracy over monolithism, increasing strength of brain over muscle in economy have generated immense possibilities before India, the INTELLIGENT NATION as put forward by one of my British friend. US, the only superpower evinces keen interest to make India its partner, well, thanks, we'll take your best, China, OK, great history, Russia-trusted friend, UK/EU- inherit you great legacy,3rd world-partner in progress.
i on behalf of our society fully endorce the stand taken by our respected prime minister by voting against iran in the I.A.E.A meeting.we just can not afford to annoy u.s GOVT @ its european allies.PRIME MINISTER stand is well calculated and it suits the interest of india.we congratulate s:MANMOHAN SINGH for such a daring step and refused to be cowed down by leftist.
When India proved as a nuclear power and seek foreign expertise to assist Electrical Energy needs for development, one has to make lot of compromise on himself and to convince the other side of the world. This convincing path is difficult as any amount of doubt will delay the path of devekopment. Nobody seems to interested in investment in Electrical power as return is economically difficult. On the otherhand we see buildings in USA & Canada are illuminated in the night time as they are power surplus. How it can happen-it is due to low cost of power generation through nuclear route. Technology is available with the western country and we will take a long time to develop independently. So, if India is aligned with USA and can get this nuclear deal and for that purpose if they have to vote against Iran, it is most welcome. Please remember India can benefit more by acquiring nuclear power technology vis-a-vis gas supply from Iran.
Mr.Gautam Chakrabarti has explicitely stated the need for voting against Iran. Also to think practical, voting for Iran does not make any material differance except psuedo politics.
His call for sobriety is very important in this day and age of terrorists attacking various cities in India and abroad. Hence, in this context it is pertinent and may perhaps be obvious that common areas of cooperation should be found. For example, the need to eliminate terrorism, in itself could help in "burying the hatchet" and fight for a common cause. In other words, this could be the "launching pad" with the known understanding that "adversity is the mother of invention". However, as rightly pointed out by the Prime Minister, the changing ground realities should be borne in mind in formulating our current strategy utilizing the excellent framework provided by our freedom fighters.
