It is strange that parents forget important imigration documents and not forget to grant a citizenship status to their Kids abroad, they take travelling to India for granted, we all are well aware of a number of issues at the Airport Immigration though, its a sad case of counter balming the Indian Immigration officials for doing their job!!
I think officers did their job. Just put this same situation if you are traveling to some other nation. They act exactly the same way, as I know of people having such experiences. It's no point blaming to immigration officers if the couple did not had visa they are at fault and officers followed the rules, it's simple.I always seen people blaming India or Indian people for the mistakes committed by them, which is not good.
the only wrong i see is that the frenchman got the visa (that too is subject to verification maybe he was merely transiting through)
but these morons forgetting such a important thing as a visa that too for their kids is plain shameful and so irresponsible.
RULE IS A RULE whether its a KID or not (i too stay in USA and here too RULE IS A RULE and americans dont get emotional and go out of the way if the very same way theyre treated there then these NRIS start crying oh man what shoddy treatment racism my foot!
theyre lucky the kids didnt get detained in a juvenile facility
tell these NRIS to go to USA without a visa and see if on humanitarian grounds will they be let in??
how can one forget a visa.. it simply boggles a mind, i guess they were thinking chalta hai attitude in India will see them through or possible bribery would do the trick
im glad and give full marks to INDIAN IMMIGRATION for just making it plain and simple that in india no more chalta hai attitude is in practice!!
i do feel bad for your kids but please dont expect immigration to feel sorry for the mistake you as a parent have made maybe next time you should first pack ur passport and visa
The comments or opinions of the officers or the Bombay Customs does not appear anywhere in the story. It doesn't appear the reporter has taken the trouble of going to them with questions. Is this journalism? Bloggers can do this, but not a big-business media source like Rediff.
Not exactly same thing but kinda similar experience. I was coming from US to Inida and had Indian passport which was made in 1998 of course that time I was young slim and kept mustache. Now after being in US for quite sometime.. lets say I gained some pounds, removed mustache.. I had visited UK on my way to Inida for couple of days.. now when I arrived at Bangalore the immigration officer was not allowing me to enter saying that guy whose picture is in passport is not me. I was told to do my immigration from Mumbai since I had left country from Mumbai. Remeber no one stopped me at UK or Amsterdam regarding this matter. Anyways I asked the officer to see his supervisor he denied me the permission.. This lasted for around 45 mins and I even planned to go to Mumbai but then came a guy asked me what my problem was I put down some money in his hands. he talked with the officer.. I was issued an I-94 kind of thing attached to my passport which he told me I should always carry with me when I visit India again. Not sure what made this guy change his decision but finally I was able to go out of airport. but the funny thing is that this guy took care of customs too for me,no bags were cheked
It is easy to blame the NRI guys because it was their mistake but just put yourself into their positions and you will understand what they must have gone through.
The Mumbai officials should have given some more time or should have given a 2 day transit visa so that they could get their papers in that time.
First only the people who go through this kind ordeal will know what the suffering is. I have the same aged kids and if I go through the same issue I am sure it is going to be painful.
I am not sure how easy it is to forget visa (and that too two of them) during the travel.
The bureaucrats in INDIA go by the book and not by logic. So blaming them is not going to change anything.
I have not heard any US citizen allowed entry to US because he forgot the passport. They allow them by checking the computer and completing other formalities. Afet entering the country you need to follow-up and fix the issue.
If the US citizen has kids born outside and forget any document they allow them immigration.
I personally know kids of non-us citizen were allowed to enter USA. Only thing is thy need to follow-up and correct the issue. If it is an adult then it is altogether different issue.
Do not expect that Indian system will take care their citizen. If you lost passport you are screwd. That is not the case with many of the other countries.
There is a fundamental problem in INDIA. The value for life and suffering. This is cheep. Very few people care. Hell with kids. Who c
I read the story u wrote it was really heart breaking.
my heart goes for u.however indian people r suppose to be very kind hearted people with good nature. But world is changing.I am an indian origin, currently in usa.I went through a lot os stress before I came to usa.first of all the police department took so long to give me a police clearance even though I was a good citizen. They took money from me to do the job but still didnt do the job they wanted more money. At that point I said I want to see a police inspector. They wouldnt let me see him.But one driver helped me he told the head that this girl wants to see u very badly.god bless this inspector and the driver.Because I got my clearance done in a day. Then comes the passport office in mumbai.I was originally from bangalore. The passport officer in mumbai was very cruel he spoke very rudely in front of thousands of people for no reason.I was online to get a passport renewed in mumbai because i had only 6 months left.because I was from different state he said i cant renew it in mumbai. However I did it in my state later.once again the police in my state I had to give the money to get the things done.In india only money talks.
