Happened with me
by King Kong on Dec 20, 2006 11:42 PM

Not exactly same thing but kinda similar experience. I was coming from US to Inida and had Indian passport which was made in 1998 of course that time I was young slim and kept mustache. Now after being in US for quite sometime.. lets say I gained some pounds, removed mustache.. I had visited UK on my way to Inida for couple of days.. now when I arrived at Bangalore the immigration officer was not allowing me to enter saying that guy whose picture is in passport is not me. I was told to do my immigration from Mumbai since I had left country from Mumbai. Remeber no one stopped me at UK or Amsterdam regarding this matter. Anyways I asked the officer to see his supervisor he denied me the permission.. This lasted for around 45 mins and I even planned to go to Mumbai but then came a guy asked me what my problem was I put down some money in his hands. he talked with the officer.. I was issued an I-94 kind of thing attached to my passport which he told me I should always carry with me when I visit India again. Not sure what made this guy change his decision but finally I was able to go out of airport. but the funny thing is that this guy took care of customs too for me,no bags were cheked
