Mumbai Immigration deports kids
by Rajneesh Kumar on Dec 21, 2006 01:19 AM  Permalink

Indians will never change their ways. Not only should we be ashamed by what happened, there should be strict action against the officials involved. Worst part is same officials will cry discrimination if it happened to them. This incident again goes on to prove our slave mentality. Once a slave always a slave. White skin is better than brown skin for Indians even today. Shame on us and our so called democractic nation. BTW I am sure the whole thing would change if the parents had thrown some alms to the officials involved. Things never change officials with wisdom and humanity.

You have to be responsible for your acts. You cannot expect that things would fall in place . You have been in the US for 9 yrs and still dont know how to have correct paper work, i am surprised how u got ur green card. But i am sorry you were doing paper work for the US Green Card so you must have been three times more careful. In this case its India ,apna des you can do anything.

Anyways i hope you learnt your lesson.

Immigration denied entry
by Raj on Dec 21, 2006 01:17 AM  Permalink

I am seeing most of the people blaming the immigration official since all are NRI :-). I think, showing humatarian is person dependent in india and not coming along with law unlike other countries law. Also I agree that indian government officials will never behave good in any exception situation.

You may feel bad of their behavior only if you are a NRI since you experienced the good situation in other country. Only different between other country people and indians is, those will try their best to change the situation and we will blame the government.

I am seeing NRIs following all the rules in their resident country and not caring of the same in india. Sorry to ask this, can any tell, what would have been happen if you are landing US without visa. Will they allow you to pass thro' immigration window to airport.

Anyway I am feeling bad about your experience.

One sided thinking
by saurin on Dec 21, 2006 01:16 AM  Permalink

I don't understand why everybody is so against the authority.

It is the blunder madeby the parents of those kind and they are to blame and not the authorities. Immigration authority was doing its job. Being so educated and professional parents they should have checked Visa requirements before bringing their kinds to a FOREIGN COUNTRY (indeed for their kids).

How they FORGOT to bring necessary visa documents.

They must be out of their mind and I think this is a good lesson for all flying around without necessary attention to the required papaers.

People should know better
by DC on Dec 21, 2006 01:16 AM  Permalink

I am surprised at the ignorance and naivity of the parents. People who are criticising the immigration official should answer if the parents would even dare trying boarding US without a visa. It is not a white and brown issue. I am also staying out of India for many years but the law of the land has to respected. Such people take things for granted to suit their convenience. It was ridiculous that they asked Air France and considered their approval as Gospel - hmmm.

Immigration

Officer responsible should be suspended without pay and transferred to a location where there's very little chance of side income, that's the fitting punishment for such idiots.

Agree with Denial but disagree with Bias for Whites
by Ram on Dec 21, 2006 01:05 AM  Permalink

From my opinion, both the families should have to be deported if the indian rule says no Transit visa allowed. I understand the pain for the parents but I dont think they forgot, they might have thought its easy to overcome Indian officials with money, which is no more true.
