Rule 1: There is something called "due process" in America. If somebody has been assaulted then follow due process. It works! International rules say that people visiting a country need to know about its rules/laws. Id Ms. Basu claims ignorance she is guilty. If she was aware and she did not file a complaint then she is guilty of obstructing justice.
Fact 2: She chose to vent her displeasure in a public manner at a function in a foreign country organized by people of her our country. She made a generic allegation that "women are harassed"
Rule 2: If one has an iota of something called "pride in one's own community/culture" they will never ever go to a foreign culture/country and publicly humuliate their own culture. India does not always enforce its laws/rules partially because its not there yet partially because Indian cultural system relies more on forgiveness than punishment. Regardless even India has something called "due process". I didn't hear Ms. Basu using it. If one doesn't apply for redressal how can one claim to be a victim ? Please explain.

Hi PJ, I am writing this with the assumption that what Ms. Basu told is correct. If you are a female and if you were ill treated by the organizers who invited you to their country for a special occassion, I suggest you to try if you can be calm and composed. You are worried about insults to the organizers. But organizers by ill treating their guest have already insulted the whole representation and they deserve a treatment. If Ms Basu did it in the public it was her choice through which she wanted to make sure that the facts are known to everyone. People who ignited her must have thought about it.
Good to hear that New Yorkers celebrated Independence day grandly to show their patriotism. In guest column the authors showed his dissatisfaction about the cine actors, not showing up during parades but coming for lunchon or dinners. It is quite funny why the organisiers are behind the stardom, in what scence that it makes scence to request an actor to lead the parade expecting to attract the people towards the parade. Why dont they think of inviting a freedom fighter or a intelctual person of whom India and Indian are proud of. Does it wont make scence to celebrate Indepence or Republic day. I request the organiser to think once again before paying a hug amount for a cine artist rather spending it on some one who is worth for.
