I have seen 'Udaan' serial in childhood when I was a small girl. I really was amazed by the main character as before I never had seen a lady character representing a personality performing very well and distinguishly as a main character in any movie or serial -Pity on our indian cinema and TV channels, but 'Udaan' was of its kind. Today, after many years, I am happy to read about the real life character of that serial. She has set one more example and I really wish that many more ladies will come up to their best in India. All the best to Ms. Kanchan.
Perhaps she's different, but the mindset of the Indian police has changed little from the time of the British Raj, whose only function was to protect the govt against the native people, rather than to serve and protect them. Cops are the real mafia - craven criminals shaking down people for bribes, even for regsitering an FIR - they still behave as imperious ghoons of corrupt netas, accountable to no one - a law unto themselves.
It is really so very heartening to learn about women police officers assuming high positions. We just request them to be real women, and not fall prey to the negative culture of many amle police officers. As senior officers they should develop a motherly role, and an impartial one too. The greatest problem of these high positions is, other than temptations, is the development of a BIG EGO, which makes them forget their real role. We just pray that this does not happen in these cases. I am truly proud of these women. BRAVO. Dr Gautam Sarkar MBBS, MD
Very heartwarming to read about Mrs.Kanchan Choudhary, the DGP of Uttarnchal. Madam, could you kindly devote some time to train the police to be more humane and to take appropriate action based on case to case basis rather than treating everybody with suspicion and useage of uncultured language against the poor and the helpless. I know it is a near impossible task, however kindly do something about it. I believe that only persons like you CAN DO IT.
