NBA Direction
by jitendra kumar on Apr 07, 2006 10:15 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Medha patekar's direction of NBA is absolutely right.Technology makes the life faster , even i can assume it also increases the life of human being , but it can not recover the emotions, principles, happiness(of those who are allready staying there since long). In sort i would like to say that technology is like a coin which has positive and negative simultaneously both but nature has positive things if you do not disturb them it turns out to be negative if you will disturb the nature.

Other side of the story
by Mehul on Apr 07, 2006 01:33 AM  Permalink

I would request to visit interiors of Saurashtra and Kutch whoever is opposing Sardar Sarovar. One should experience the hardships being faced by people there and then bash the government for these kinda project.

I agree that proper care should be taken of people who are losing their land because of this project but does it mean we should stop development projects all together?

Sadness keeps striking !!!
by Nikhil on Apr 07, 2006 01:02 AM  Permalink

I don't understand politics, and i don't think i ever will and especially

that of India's. I mean is it really that hard to see through this, what

more evidence does the government of India need till they realize the

injustice being done to all the Adivasis. The World Bank had

personally sent investigators and they declared that the conditions

the Narmada Project said it would meet, was in fact not being met

and so they withdrew from giving India the 400+ million dollars. Even

after this, the government of India fails to recognize the severity of

this matter. I mean people are literally loosing their homes and it's

not even their fault. They are Adivasis who are harmless people, they

live on the land, that's all they know, to live off their

surroundings. How can India's conscience allow for this to happen

and anyhow how are the cash settlements, they offer to give, going to

solve any of this. The Adivasis don't live in the city, they don't know

of the lifestlye in the cities and its not their fault that they don't.

Seriously, this is India, a country who speaks so highly behalf of their

culture and their morals and ethics. Then where is ethics behind all of

this!!!!

sustainable development is the key
by rayker on Apr 07, 2006 12:23 AM  Permalink

are we following the best methods, and the least destructive one is the question. look at china, they have not followed any norms in thier quest for development, and the citizens suffer there. i hope we dont follow thier path in the name of development. progress is essential, but keeping one step forward, while moving backwards in 'real terms' isnt worth taking that step. we have scant respect for environment. there are no independent audits. all projects are cloaked in veil of secrecy. no wonder the people dont trust successive governments.

bhopal tragedy
by ju on Apr 07, 2006 12:02 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Carbide case in 1984 was even worse calamity.
Even today there is no final judgment; no compensation to surviving victims; and no one knows what happened on that night and who did the mischief.
The Narmada case is the longest tragic story ever played out in real life. We need to capitalise on this by making a few movies, TV serials and a few books. Medha should be immediately awarded the Nehru prize for Peace.

by naresh chityala on Apr 06, 2006 11:03 PM  Permalink

how old is this government and what right it have on narmada river compared to the people whose lives are based on the river from many centuries? if anyone hopes that this government will show some alternative to those people ..... thats sheer stupidity. so its definitely an unforgivable sin. they are poor and underpriviliged, its ok if u cant help them but please dont loot them.

NBA
by harry on Apr 06, 2006 09:17 PM  Permalink

This is directly to Megha and all her supporters that try and live out in the drought prone areas of gujarat for a month where water access is every 7-10 days for 30 mins. So, does the amount of rehabilitation really weighs down the number of people without water??? I fear it don't and thus its just the publicity stunt with a movement to shun the growth of gujarat much thru irrigation. I hope people understand the future needs and should encourage the much needed developments.

Jai Hind .....
