Natwar not ''guilty''?
by subbu on Nov 09, 2005 09:26 PM  Permalink

There is no wonder that unsolicited attempts are being made to "defend" Natwar Singh through the media. Natwar has claimed before the media that he is answerable only to his "conscience" (does such a thing exist for a politician, that too a Congress Politician, is yet another point - not debatable point, it is a settled axiomatic truth that such a thing does not exist in this tribe); if so why his anxiety to make a statement to the media and to the Parliament whose precious moments are wasted on such meaningless exercises?

Wake up !!
by Pradeep on Nov 09, 2005 10:52 AM  Permalink

The article is missing the point !! How many external affairs ministers have been identified in the OFFP report ? Would China, France and Russia reacted same way if their foreign minister was identified in the report. Grow up man !!

Inquiry or No Inquiry, it would have been graceful for the Natwar Singh to resign first and then challenge the findings. Atleast it would saved India's image in the international community. Realize that more than tax payer's money is at stake.

Volcker's Report
by mohammd sarfaraz on Nov 09, 2005 10:18 AM  Permalink

Personal interest in Iraqi Oil can not be denied. Helps beyond diplomatic perview to a freindly nation during their difficult period may be unlawful(so-called laws carved to serve their own interest) but not inhumane. Keeping in view prolonged biased American policy towards India and it's ally, Volckers Report may be a step to diestablise such nations. India is more prone to such conspiracy to our internal bull-fighting. Our national leaders & intellectuals(lifting themselves beyind their plateforms) must consider the prose and cones of such affairs before making it public through media.

Wha Laws have been broken
by V.Sekar on Nov 09, 2005 08:36 AM  Permalink

As poitical lack of morality/accountability is the crowning jewel of Politics in this country, any amount of proof will not suffice for the present day politicians, small and big in the echelons, to accept their faults and misdeeds gracefully. Otherwise what is the reason for so many corruption cases against politicians going unsubstantiated?
We have to wonder when another Lal Bahadur Shastriji or a Mahathma Gandhiji or a Lord Maha Vishnu Himself will arrive in Bharath to weed out the malaise in the society and set the country in Order.
With the scores of loopholes in the man-made(read as Politician Made) laws, no commission / court will inflict punishment large enough to set an example to the others. Only a Sharia has some proviions in it for punishing in an exemplary manner, we hear. Our Indian laws are weak to the core to such an extent, even direct evidence has to be corroborated with no protection to the giver of evidence. Is this a healthy situation? Is this a fit democracy ?
Natwarji and Congress should set an example to others instead of being foolishly defensive.

Volkar Committee report.
by K.Raghavan on Nov 09, 2005 03:37 AM  Permalink

None other than the BJP would be interested in this non-sense. It is good that the BJP continues to behave like a rogue and eliminate itself from the political map of the Country.

All countries are acting on the report
by nickel on Nov 09, 2005 01:14 AM  Permalink

I just read a report that France has launched numerous inquiries into the Volker report's accusations.
Where did the author get this baseless claim that the other countries just set aside the report?
