public inaction = BMC boon
by Shrikant on Jul 05, 2006 07:37 PM  Permalink

We have all felt the pains of watching crores of rupees go down the drains literally this year.
Yet except for the celebrities and the people who are eulogised often in the media, no one else has a voice that can be heard - not just heard but joined forces with.
I hear people on the radio - feeling elated that they were heard on the radio voicing their opinions - after that they are back to their normal routine of cursing the administration.
People appear on TV, make some noise and then the noise dies out as people's minds get diverted to other 'urgent' matters on hand after the rains pass.
-BMC has pulled wool over the eyes of everyone by digging up roads, cutting down trees and by keeping these dug up areas unrepaired to show that they are working on urgent problems.
-has BMC been asked to follow any SLA, to meet demands on time and if failed to meet them on time, be penalised?
-By cutting down trees and by pouring concrete on those patches where trees existed, the uneducated, absolutely incoherent crowd at BMC and it's equally unscrupulous contractors have closed all channels for the water to seep into the ground. so floods are natural.
has any ever questioned these ways of BMC

God is not Cruel
by Abhijeet on Aug 06, 2005 11:48 AM  Permalink

It is the people who are to be blamed, well the amount and the speed of buildings which are coming in the Mumbai area was responsible for the flood. I way for water to reach the destinations is blocked by these buildings. I say there is no proper planning done in the city by the CIDCO. The government is also equally to blame since they are hand in gloves with the builders.
Its time People in the City wake up and start taking the responsibility instead ob blaming on the usless government and the other so called political leaders.

Central Railway Local Trains still in Mishap !!!
by Naresh Ganwani on Aug 04, 2005 08:48 PM  Permalink

Well I would like to Thank Rain God for not showering as they did in last week on July 26th & even on Sunday, Monday.

Inspite of this Great Mercy, the local trains on Central Railway still are a worst experience for Fellow Commuters.

I saty in Mulund & since tuesday Augsut 2nd, CR is providing Special Trains every 20-30 minutes.

Well I would like to Salute Mumbaikars who are Commuters using CR, who risk their Life & Health to get in the packed compartments.

I do worry how come CR is not looking the risk where a train is towing almost 4 times the commuters it should in normalcy.

Well its high time these Babus should leave the Bereaucy & come foward to explain the reasons for treating Commuters Ruthlessly & not been able to restore service.

I would like to male a humble request to Fellow Commuters who luckily manage to get seats to also give Opportunity to fellow commuters who are standing, So atleat in this time of turbency we feel pains what otehrs are going through & make them comfortable as only GOD knows when CR will give respite to all Mumbai Citizens.

Bombay rains
by Raunaq Bobby on Aug 04, 2005 10:04 AM  Permalink

HI to all my brave friends of Bombay,

I am Raunaq Bobby and am presently in Qatar for the past 3 years. I have lived and studied in Bomaby till I came to this place. Seeing the rains and the devstation caused on our telivision sets and the newspaper, I & my family just couldnt imagine the losses that have occured. Its tru the Middle class family has suffered a lot and the State management has not done or promised anything to these class of the people which truly makes Bombay. I never felt asking about my own flat in Mumbai after seeing the people affected, losing their belongings, their wealth. Since I live on the 2nd floor, dont believe I would have had a problem but I can visualize the havoc caused for the residents in the ground floor and the shops in and around my surroundings... Its terriible. But I believe, Bombay being the city of brave hearts would spring up to life as soon in teh shortest of time and can do without the help of the state management. We are all with you even though far away. Whatever help possible, we shall be ready to help u in a big way.

Your friend,
Bobby.

mumbai rains: feroz's tragedy
by manju on Aug 04, 2005 09:34 AM  Permalink

It was a really heart touching tragedy. I feel the pain that middle class people must be feeling for this tragedy. We should blame the city planners and municipality for poor city structuring. This is what happens when government servants dont do their jobs! I hope everyone understands that they have encouraged corruption and lethargy in govt offices.

Feroz, please look at what has been spared..
by surekha tenneti venugopal on Aug 04, 2005 07:17 AM  Permalink

What can one say to Feroz's and his wife's losses ? Only that they, their mother, are alive, and whole. As long as God has spred their lives, they are never 'zero'.It may take a couple of years, but they can have much of what they lost back. If they struggle and complete their MBAs, they'll get better salaried jobs and their comeback will be quicker. If mine and the prayers of thousands of readers will mean anything to the lives of Feroz and those like him, then, our prayers are with them.

Hate to go back to the place called HOME
by Usha Dhanpal on Aug 03, 2005 04:31 PM  Permalink

My husband were stuck up in the office like many others that too in Kalina. I left office and reached my parent\\\'s house on Tuesday evening. By that time, my tution student had called up from Kalyan to tell me that my house was slowly going under water and the next day morning I came to know that the water was reaching the first floor. My husband who reached only the next day night and Myself are both thankful to BPL and Reliance for keeping their services intact.
The next day was the torture to reach the house and on opening to find the cylinders floating, the TV on the floor, the refrigerator on the floor, all my precious books stenching and not any clothes to wear. Cleaning became a horrifying thing coz of the stench , snakes (2 we found and hand to kill). We had recently shifted to this house after we were robbed in the earlier house where we resided. This house was on loan and both of us were slogging it out by giving tutions to nearby students.
Fortunately we have insured everything but then almost all of the electronic goods - the PC, music system, the TV, refrigerator all gone. No bed to sleep no clothes to wear and no water to drink. Horrifying days we spent.
