The author has said the obvious, in this intense competitive world created by the wrog perception of the fittest of the survival, people have become blind to their innate self. Humanity exist because of compassion we hacve for each other. B-school must highlight this core human nature so that business is people and environment friendly. Thanks to the author
Everything should not be spoonfed. If everything is taught as at B-School, what the candidate/student will do. Some of the attributes like - Compassion, character, attitude, personality are personal attributes thats depends on the personal experiences, psychological effects & nature of a person. B-Schools does fine tune the attributes and inculcate values but not to teach them. You cant teach compassion, it has to come from inner most feelings of a person.
Please dont every blame that B-Schools dont teach this, dont teach that blah blah. Think and write and dont wirte or make a statement for the heck of writing.
RE:B-schools don't teach compassion

Dear Mr. Sairam, By the logic you have outlined in your post, there is no point teaching ethics in business schools. If these concepts were so deeply ingrained in individuals, then even other other concepts like corporate culture and values have no place in the functioning of the modern business. Corporations and institutions still go ahead and outline their values and code of conduct. I leave you to form your own conclusions. Value based education exists for people on their way to corporate boardrooms in some form. But the article points out the shortfalls which is laudable and worth a thought instead of an impatient dismissal as a comment against the curricula of business schools.
A policy which encourages lack of compassion in working lays the foundation for attrition of talented, and retainment of mediocre. The long term implication of such a policy are, almost always, negative for the team and business. A good manager can observe this fact in experience, if he hasn't learnt this in B-School. If he can't learn from this. He is true to his MBA (Much below Average).

A very good article indeed. An article which concentrates on fundamental aspects of relationships.I agree to what Jawahar has to say. Compassion , mutual respect , proactive nature , healthy competition not to forget ethics and morals are fundamental things and they should be dealt at primary stage , but not only that periodically people should be reminded of those virtues. The thing is in todays corporate world (the dog eat dog world)there is dearth of people who really value each others emotions. We just need to remind people that bullshit might take them to top but will not help them stay there.
I think you overlooked the values which are the core at SP Jain Institute of Management and Research in Mumbai. I would have appreciated if your topic had some depth in it before it was published. This is for you inoformation.
