Inadequate protein
by Deepa on Nov 08, 2006 07:26 PM  Permalink

The quality of protein in the suggested diet is very poor in protein. The lunch has absolutely no protein. I think it needs to be corrected!!

yeah, just to extend a bit on the processed angle, the milk that we consume is homogenised which makes the fat globules smaller in size, as a result the saturated fat is much more easily absorbed in the system.
as u mentioned suppliments is advised in this kind of diet.

WT LOSS
by ganes nikade on Nov 08, 2006 06:15 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

u mentioned abt the stuffs like Ovaltine/Bournvita to be used with skimmed milk, these contain large amounts of sugar themselves, may of these stuff that pass as health foods are loaded with simple carbs.
how many know that the corn fakes have higher glycemic index that sugar!!
normally i would preffer to keep off anything processed.
the cardio u have suggested may be ok initially to get used to, but for any fat burning effect it may be inadequate.
a light resistance training is not out of place, rather cardio should suppliment it.

You are absolutely right buddy. Let me add something more. Milk and its by products are not THAT healthy now a days (with huge amounts BGH and antibiotics in it). Weight loss always starts with lot of water loss. What about water soluble vitamins? Need to supplement with organic MVs. Any Stress (exercise too) increases body's nutrient requirement several times...so supplement?

I take of cup of water and cofee in the morning around 8.00 am. The breakfast will be 3 idlis or two dosas. I consume horlicks around 11.00 am after reaching the office. I have my lunch at 2.00 pm mostly being a bowl of curd \\ lemon rice with a vegatable. At 5.00 PM i take a cup of coffee with a couple of salt \\ cream biscuts. I take dinner around 10.00 usally a bowl of curd rice with pickles. I do a total of around 20 minutes walking everyday during the travelling to my office.
