Chatterjee complained that "as Indian Americans, after all our efforts and our own time, money and energy we put into this, we are so disappointed over the opposition to the agreement in India." "We are doing so much for India, but the people who live in India (who are opposed to the deal), they don't seem to think about the people," he said.
Oh...so now the deal should go thru JUST BECAUSE RICH NRIs have put lot of effort?!!..LOL.

Exactly, we should except the Nuclear deal because the NRIs have put in effort and money? These NRIs can go to any extend to prove their loyalty to US but find it hard to think about India. They seek US citizenship as soon as they enter US. Who are they to speak about India? And no one in this forum is talking about the actual benifit (if any) that India will get out of this deal. I mean, we will increase our percentage of nuclear energy within the total electricity produced by approx 7% and that too over 20 years or so? And then pay a heavy prize? WHY so? Why cant we go the Solar or wind rout and not be bound by someone like America on our foreign policy. We cannot afford to be bound because in the fast paced era, our relations with other countries will change very rapidly. Friends will be foes and all the other way round. We need to make any decision totally based on our self interest, not what America asks us to do.

Ok, what is your options for our energy.? What mode china use to feeds its billion populations energy need...??
Is it nuclear/coal..? In which direction are they shifting.. Chinas way is Indias way in energy..
If u open ur eyes u will see, china is going in nuclear direction, we cant afford fossil fuel, or else mother earth will perish.
Sollar and wind route will have worked out if HUMANs-the-evil(atleast for me) were not so greedy.. We need 100% growth in each sector every year. For that plundering of mother nature is mandatory.. For that too much energy is required. Again if we dont plunder someone else surely will. So In short other than nuclear option world have no choice, because if we use fossil fuel, price will rise and they will sink due to global warming.
If USA foreign policy aligns to Indias Natural Interests and strategic interest against our enemies we should deal with them, just as a bussiness deal with all care. The solution is not to align with jihadi-iran and EVIL-china, which already had attacked us.
Again who is our so called friends..? Iran?? May be true now, but why are they friends?? Why cant Israel more friendly to us?? Arent we facing the same problems?
Is any of our neighbours our friend.. pak, bangla, myanmar, nepal, srilanka..?? Tell me dear Kole!! Noooo... They are all chinese chamcha..
But I agree, we need to act smart and dont let USA play the game completely in their favour. In that part resident Indians have a say.

Thats exactly my point Mr. mindgod. US will not allow us to have independent foreign policy. All the history has shown this, be it Japan, South Korea, Germany, England...the list goes on. Its a 'chakravhew', you can get into it, but cannot come outside. And FYI, China is going the Thermal (coal) way in their energy needs, and that too because they have unending reserves of coal. Yes agreed that we need growth in nuclear sector to be full fledged. But we need technology from US and raw material from countries like Australia who are already saying that they will not supply fuel until India signs CTBT or NPT. These 'white' countries are the last once we should believe in. India is acting as if Nuclear energy and that too from US help are the last measures for our sustainability and for that we are ready to be slaves of US. Now US inspectors will come and check our facilities? What a dreadful vicious cycle this is. We make one decision which goes anti US and these inspectors will convey (prove) that India is using nuclear technology for weapons development and then we know what happened to Iraq. Offcourse that will not totally happen to India but there will be serious implications. Just blaming he Left for being anti development is very uneducated effort. THINK what will be the consequences. Its becomes a fashion to blame the left (who at least are sticking to what they are saying unlike the BJP). Shortsighted Congress and selfish BJP are not thinking about the long term damage.

Hey guys, Nuclear deal helps us to aquire nuclear energy to produce electricity. But through this deal india can aquire uranium to produce on;ly 11% of the countrys electricity requirement. But in return we are going to lose our independance in foreign policy and maybe at a later stage even in domestic policies. SHOULD WE EXCHANGE OUR COUNTRY'S FREEDOM FOR ELECTRICITY??? That too only 11% of electricity. Just because CPM is bad , that doesnt mean US is good.

No, CHINA is not planning in coal direction. It is for that reason, they had made a deal with Australia. World cant afford china/india in coal direction, due to globla warming. Hmm Why cant we be like ISRAEL?? They are not completely dictated by USA.
Japan/Korea is USA itself as they dont have active military. USA takes care of their military needs. This was partly due to japanese defeat in WWII and korean war.
See we are in catch 22 situation, and status-quo is not a solution as we dont have fuel. We either go with IRAN or USA. If former the world suffers. In second, we pass (not win) if we are clever.
Left are bastrads. If you are a left leaner, then I have nothing to talk with you in a civilized manner. My experience with them is a little more. It is a party that will ask father to kill the son, in case party wants it.
Congress and BJP are just foolish, but left is evil.
Again we have dangers from - CHINA which uses pak as a proxy. They have surrounded us by - myanmar, gwadar, new-planned-bangla-port, new-planned-srilanka-port etc.. Can we stand alone against china.. No.
So we have no choice but to deal with UNCLE sam with atmost care.
My only worry is that Indian politician and especially bussiness-man have no qualm of conscince to sell off the country for their gains.
Had Indians been like Israelis, I say grab the deal, we can deal Uncle.
