RE:NRIs interest or Country's interest?
by Ashutosh Kole on Sep 08, 2007 04:52 AM

Exactly, we should except the Nuclear deal because the NRIs have put in effort and money? These NRIs can go to any extend to prove their loyalty to US but find it hard to think about India. They seek US citizenship as soon as they enter US. Who are they to speak about India? And no one in this forum is talking about the actual benifit (if any) that India will get out of this deal. I mean, we will increase our percentage of nuclear energy within the total electricity produced by approx 7% and that too over 20 years or so? And then pay a heavy prize? WHY so? Why cant we go the Solar or wind rout and not be bound by someone like America on our foreign policy. We cannot afford to be bound because in the fast paced era, our relations with other countries will change very rapidly. Friends will be foes and all the other way round. We need to make any decision totally based on our self interest, not what America asks us to do.
