Dear friends nice to see people praising defence i.e army.I would like to share the facts as i am a spouse of an armed forces personnel.Friends when officers in army, navy ,airforce work for missions they are involved day and night iresepective of whether wife is in family way, father is not well etc.Even they dont come to know especially in navy , if you are in submarines or sailing for long duration what is happening to your family, if you have become father or bereived of parents.Once you are back from special missions again the maintenance of aircrafts, ships submarines is to be done by the jawans and officers.Personally with my experience i have seen at times after long deployments my husband doesnot come to home for two days.My small son keeps crying for papa, asking where is my papa.Further the three forces have difeerent roles army - defend the borders i.e territorial borders Navy - aquatic borders Airforce- borders at sky i.e They all have there own peculiar problems. You ask any time if you happen to meet any jawan who has served in siachen what was his state. When george fernandes became DM he ordered good quality woolen clothings and got an airconditioned mess with temperature control. When you serve in altitudes your sinubial fluid dries up due to climatic condition you get joint pains and all.Ask a sailor how is life in ships, submarines, fighter planes. They will tell you the true story.Media and politicians have vested interest and are complement of eachoth

Further the stress related factors as there is nobody at field station to share your vows or listen to you.At young age jawan, sailors and airmen join defence. In present day society nobody is supporting there families at home station, villages, young married wifes and what not.As most of the time jawan and officers are away there properties are encroached by goons or local politician and civil authorities not being cooperative.Personnel get limited leave depending on situation. Further floods, fire every where army and navy is roped in. Where do these people get actual time to relax.Any blast happens in india security at defence installation is beefed up and patrolling too, high alert. After all we all are too human beings.Being away from families too takes a toll on human relation. When you get leave you dont have reservations and many other things. Inspite of this if you dont get respect that is what it hurts. In this country if any body is worki8ng for motherland its jawans, officers not politicains and civilians.we all are working for stomach or personal ambitions.Majority of them join for love for nation.Imagine a young boy joining NDA rejecting iit,AIMs seat and opting NDA.Some body earlier on this forum expressed as there are civilians so there is armed forces.Dear friends however small a nation is it require army to protcet its citizens. We were under british rule b'cos we didnot have strong army and defence.Even vedas support this.A strong defence protects the counrty

Dear frinds we all should understand our duties and fulfill it to the last core. Our politicians and social system has gone to dogs with out morals and ethics.Howmuch it pains to see those terrorist for whom we armed forces personnel die not brought justice. No agitations, no support from general public. It pains and make us think why we civilians donot think for counrty.Switching jobs for rupees ....
there is lot more to tell but you all think and help in improving this counrty... return something to this motherland to which you all too owe a lot other then Armed forces..

Rashmi, We have to understand the call of duty... the military is supposed to be like that.. their readyness to fight, the aspect of keeping away from family, all in the game. I do agree with the points you told, just to remind you that it is a part of their job. See our jawan's are protecting our soils, what about the fate of the forces sent for war in Iraq? Everyday they are blewed up for someone else, just to keep up the faces of political leadership.
