Test of Time
by Varsh Raghavendra on Feb 08, 2007 09:30 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Dear Friends,

It is unfair to allocate the water that too a lesser part to the state where it originates. Rules, Laws and Regulations are created by man and they should not take away the birth rights. In our country we have freedom to talk, write and many more activities but not to use the water for our requirement in our own state. I am a Tamilian living in Karnataka from my childhood days. I can well understand the pain of each of us in Karnataka. Friends please understand that here there is no difference between Tamilian or Kannadiga. We all are united in facing this situation.

We should do whatever appropriate actions required to get our share of water. We have proved to the nation that though we are deprived of our share of water, we behaved well with humanity during this hour of crisis.

Jai Karnataka.

Well, Mr. Varsh:

Then learn the laws...The Law says that the the state in which the river merges with sea has more rights than where it originates. If you know the distress of people in Karnataka, then try to learn the distress and miseries of TN...

From where you got this law, Internation water control law says that river water should be used by the locals where it originates and left-over should be provided to others, please don't teach us law.

Srivatsan , so, if you are talking about international laws... please read it fully and understand.. it clearly says that the state(counry) which contributes more to the river or lake will have more.. that is how Niagara was shared by US and canada.

If no one objected or questioned the very reason of a tribunal being formed, then it is also equally important for all of us to abide by it's verdict. This is not against any state government or its leaders but for the good of the people and the people who suffer. It would be fair to debate about the verdict but unfair to judge sitting far away from the hot seat.

Dear Brother. Its not the question of where the river is originating and its not a rule that the state where the river originates should have the max share. If that is true maharashtra should have the max share of Godavari as it originates from there. But Karnataka and andhra hold the max share.its the question of sharing and the tribunal has given a fair verdict. Some people blame the Central Govt and i dont know what the Central Govt has to do with this. please be considerate

Before concluding, just go through the history.

Maharastra left more water to Karnataka when there was flood; due to this whole north Karnataka suffered and many people lost there lives and property.
They are intelligent enough to hold the water how much they want in normal situations (non-flood).

sir, the same situation is applicable for Karnataka also. When they have excess water in Cauvery, they just release the water to TN and all the crops gets submerged in water.

that is the mysterious thing which i cannot figure.Karnataka running short of water even with the likes of Major rivers like Godavari, Krishna and Cauvery. TN has only cauvery as the major river (other rivers are just dry beds) for irrigation. Instead, cant your Govt think of linking Godavari/Krishna waters with cauvery?

Kanishk-ji .....Well, what happens if he says Jai karnataka, it is a state issue. and it doesn't mean any harm.
I agree with you saying Jai inida only when it is related to international affairs not with inter state issue...

yes varsh raghavendra, you should be saying Jai Hind and Vande Mataram and not say jai karnataka. It is people like you who are doing dirty work of disintegrating our Nation. Remember karnataka belongs to us all Indians.
