I read one of the messages that says Yoga, Meditation should be recommended in schools and something about Christians and Muslims should also adopt it. Something to do about anger management. No problem there? I am Christian and my children go to a private school run by Gujarati's where Yoga is part of the curriculum. Yet, when my children report incidents that happen in school I wonder what is wrong with teachers today. My daughter a natural runner lost in the heats, when she told the teacher that while running two girl deliberately tripped her the teacher dismissed it, saying that's ok. When my son heard her narrating the incident to me, he mentioned the same thing happened to him the last year and the teacher told him that he should have also done the same! I can give you a hundred other instances. I wonder if bringing up these issues with the teachers will prove deterimental to my children. Because what bothers me is not that they were not selected, but the differences in what I teach them at home and how over-worked and indifferent teachers at school react to them.

I agree, but the best part is, your kids will understand what is right and what is wrong. Now they know what not to do. Yes there two sides to the coin, one can get aggravated and do what his friends did, or understand, be responsible and learn the right thing to do. There some thing to learn in every good and bad thing, in one one learns how to be and in the other how not to. Anyway, given that your kid is a natural runner, he will defenitely shine, may be a bit late, but surely as a gentleman or lady. Good luck to them.

This incident should be taken as one and only one of its kind. We shouldn't start frisking all the students nor should impose yoga or meditation in schools. If its a part of curriculam, let it be. Yoga doesn't have any religion. Hence, should not be linked with any religion. Any human being can do yoga and its useful. However, no one can make sure that a student doing yoga may not bring a gun in future. Thats not the remedy. This is the new generation!!!!!!!!!

Catherine I think parents are the best teacher for their kids.. They should spare some time to teach some lesson.. Wat they learn in the school is not sufficient..

Catherine, that is just a difference in parenting styles and values you imbibe in your kids. It is not a new or Indian concept. People who break the rules and do what we perceive to be "wrong" always gain in the short term. In the long term, I am not sure, maybe sometimes they do gain. That is where all the concepts of religion come in. The Gita talking about how you will be born as a dog or whatever, I am not sure what the equivalent in the bible is, but I am sure there is sufficient invisible punishment for sin. Everywhere, there are people who believe the best way to get ahead is to push others down and there are people who refuse to do wrong and are ready to suffer for it. Just depends on how you want your kids to grow up.
