Well its not good enough....

This deal sucks. Its not good enough. There can be no anti-chinese alliance without india participating in it. If the empire wants one badly it must pay the costs.

Was China ever a friend???????? Pak-nuclear program is all China sponsored so also their missile program- (N-Korea is Chinese puppet).

We certainly need to befriend USA, look how Germany & Japan prospered. Gandhiji is a saint but China has language problem, they believe in "power generates in the barrel of a gun...."

You are kidding me right. The chinese have a $500 BN surplus with the americans, thats akin to the americans funding china. Do you think with that kind of trading level the americans wont china to fail?
If there is a skirmish with china and india; economically whom do you think the US will support.
If US is so friendly then why doesnt it support india for a permenant seat in the UN Security council, why did it vote against the indian candidate for the UN security general.
Germany and Japan prospered because they were technologically advanced and prosperous even for the US invasion of those two countries. If US is so good, then why didnt India prosper under the 51st state of the US (the other poodle UK). Your arguments are sick. We didnt prosper because of the americans we prospered inspite of them and the Kangress party.
You want to stick it to the chinese huh. Well this treaty will not let you do so. By this treaty not only does US has controls over indian strategic options but also over the indian economy (by controlling our energy source which they can turn off for no reason). This is a very bad deal for india.

I do not think India can do any thing with the fuel that it has from its own source.

The treaty is like taking a big loan from a Bank. We must give a big collateral security as well as we must have to make sizable interest payment. Is not it?

Peter, you have a specific point of view. The strategic alliance among China, India, and Russia is surely at the back of the mind of US for giving sops out. The history is history and the present scenario asks US to destabilise these trios' co-operation advancement. There are other factors as well. One being selling those fuel itself, which is not possible with other country.

What sops? We are being sold a CTBT and FMCT with a cap on nuclear research. Along with that we are also giving the US a lever on the indian economy via the power being generated.
The strategic alliance between China and India is non-existent due to chinese threats both direct and in-direct. That does not mean that the US is going to be our natural ally. GOI is not being completely objective. In order to avoid hard decisions at home, they are taking the easy way out. In return they are willing to be a poodle to the US. In my opinion thats the reason the US wants to rush this treaty. They will never get a better bargain.

You may also be following the Trios' advancement. It is India which is halting progress on this front.
Don't you think we are making any progress there? And do you think my argument that this is one of the reasons that made US to incline towards the deal, is a wrong one?

As far as I understand, there is no cap on any of these. You must have read the text, please tell me as to where it is there. Please do not believe on what some one has said.

A Deal, by definition, is some think give and take. And this is some thing that has happened.

And your fear that the futuer energy scenario would be controlled by US is unfounded as the nucear energy will only be a fraction of the entire energy requirement of India. And India would have free hand on its own development of nuclear energy through among others, Fast Breeder Technology, in which US is more than eager. Furthermore, India does not have any other way to get the nuclear energy without explicit help from US, at least at present.

That does not mean that I am a supporter in whatever US does. Same is the case with China. I would rather believe on none. You will be never sure of their flipping against you any time. Especially US government can almost always have some foolish tale to tell its own audience for not observing any or all provisions of an accord any time after it is in force. And they do not care anyone outside. Americans believe the same with all the zeals in the world. China is atleast predictable.
