I have gone through your article minutely and I strongly (and very strongly disapprove) of your view that Sanjoy Dutt did a great job of spreading the name of Gandhi. I think he should be grateful that a film director could him to play the role !! In fact Sanjoy Dutt -- in his real life -- would make our Bapu turn in his grave. Drugs, driving into pedestricians, drinking, bawdy party behaviour -- the list is endless. Lets say Sanjoy Dutt has used the Bapu's name to his advantage and you are acting as his apostle !!!!!

I do not know whether you know the Dutt's or whether you have any other reason to write just utter rubbish. Please as a journalist do not use your role to mislead audiences in the West with such sweet words that Sanjoy Dutt is a Gandhian. You should say that he is a spoiled brat -- who by his own choice breaks the law. I also think that you owe your readers -- especially in the West-- an apology for misleading them.

good post tamojit ji. however, bapu was not a monotheist and hence was not buried in a grave in which to turn. hindus are cremated so body can best mingle with all the elements of nature; of course you knew it. one more bad figure of speech used in hindu india: "beef up".

Good post Tamojit. I agree to the point you are trying to make here. Unfortunately, Indians use their heart more than their brain and rationality for Indians is driven by emotions and not by practical thinking. I am of the opinion that even Gandhi after doing what all he did for India should have been treated in the same way had he committed a crime. I am happy that the definition of law is changing in India .

OK sanjay Dutt not spoiled the Gandhi's name, but possessed AK56 Rifle and joined hands with Underground Dons like Dawood Ibrahim, Chota Shakeel and others to prove his non violence and peaceful existence in Mumbai. So he is great and patriot, because he was a rifle for self defence only? Probably, his Gandhi might have done like him?

Thank god, Whoa! Sanjay respects Gandhi so much..What a saint...Is it a rule that if you are a indian you have to repect and follow Gandhi? Use your brains people, do the right thing..punish the guilty, don't bow before cowards like Sanjay. OKAY if he really did not insult Gandhi, why doesn;t he accept the punishment justly and be a example for otheres rather than going to Supreme Court and begging for PARDON ..Isnt that insulting Gandhi..Gandhi went to jail for no reason and won great political mileage..Sanjay is in jail for a good reason so STOP bull crapping that gandhian should be pardoned.
