LOGANATHAN MAY HAVE DIED BUT HE DIDNT SACRIFICE ANYTHING
by on Apr 19, 2007 11:27 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

what is so great about loganathan?? who asked him to go to US for teaching? why cant he teach in a indian university? also he wanted to be buried in the US cos he has chosen it as his motherland. he doesnt want to be buried in indian soil (so called thamizh mann). he is not a gandhi. he didnt sacrifice his life for saving the other students like the israeli professor. why is tamilnadu govt paying the ticket money for NINE people in LUFTHANSA??? its after all our tax money. the brothers are quite settled , they are not poor, they can fund their own tickets. the government can use the money (approx 9 lacs) for helping the poor people. INDIANS WILL NEVER LEARN.

i think u havent read properly whats written ... "She also informed us of the practical difficulties involved in bringing the body to India."

Also gandhi wasnt a good man. He had chance of saving Bhagat Singh but he did not do it, as he didnt want a competitor. As Bhagat Singh's popularity was growing in those days.

Also Rahul Gandhi has also opened some other issues which tell us a lot of things ... So plz stop prasing Nehrus and Gandhis.

It s not a question of Nehrus and Gandhis. You have highlighted an interesting point which I missed out - thanks for the same. While there may have been issues in bringing the body to India, bottom line was the prof's wish to be buried in the US. Also, a couple of years back, we had executives from a software company detained in Indonesia and the Indian govt. intervened for their release - the govt. has, needless to say, been supportive. if the family could get their passports and US visas in a day, I am sure the govt. could have intervened for the body to be brought into India - would you not agree

Good point guys. While it's an unfortunate incident but why should we give it special attention. All other victims should be same for us.It's high time we stop giving too much importance to NRI's. This will do injustice to the people who choose to settle here in spite of getting similar opportunities overseas. Why should the Govt pay for their trip. Can't it be spent on poor people in our own country.

There is an Indian sailor languishing in Pourtguese jails. What our Govt. is doing to get him released?

Where ever the Indian go, they proved their talent. As an Indian we should not negelect the NRI's or a Business man.See...The
Indian professor got awards in US for his teaching, the business man (Arun) is a very good young Entreprenur giving jobs to thousands and make wealthy to India. So our people in india should understand every thing before blaming others and Government.
It is not a good comparison.

Let me give you another comparison - there were many Indians who died at the WTC on 9/11 - incl. many employees of Indian It companies? How many of their families were provided such privileges as the prof's family - is that comparison enough? Have we realized what humanitarianism is all about in 2007 as opposed to 2001?

An interesting comparison then would be the fellowmen who died in the Kargil war. The Govt. went on a fund raising campaign - why could they not spend on these valoured men who lost their lives defending the country. Ask one widow of the family how they are and you will know what comparisons and differentiations are all about

all those so called 'patriotic' ppl who have written here against the prof, are a bunch of sour losers who never had the talent to make it big in the world, and so are envious of those who have!

You have to take into account what's political correctness. Imagine there are no indians in US: US wouldn't even care to make ties with india, as there is nobody to prove in their own land who indians are. Remember a few years back most americans didn't even know where india lies in the world map, and now most people just envy the word 'indian'. You might argue that india can do it all on their own, but for economics 101: US is the biggest customer anyone can ask for as of today - if india doesn't do it in the service industry, china/russia/brazil will do it just like they did in the manufacturing. The professor is a symbol of our proud display of intelligence in their own land. In a layman's sense, your argument sounds like "who asked my neighborhood grocer to sell groceries to others - he and his family can cook and eat them all by themselves". Of course he can take groceries and money from his own store, but he has to sell more than he spends for himself to meet his other needs and to save for his future. Why can't you understand this simple fact of market economy.

I think your Id speaks for yourself - you are truly unique. Dont forget, if it was not for the capitalist buyers like Us, India would not even figure on the world map. Bult of China's exports are to the US and so is India' software and service exports. I would appreciate the US Govt. for having waived all their std norms and helping the family get a US visa in a day - especially when they rejected the Gujarat polician (Narendra Modi) of a life time entry into the US. No one is trying to deman Indians, I think you are missing the point. Put yourself in the Prof's shoes or Minal's, would your family have got to visit the US?

While I do agree that we have lost an educationist and brain power, I think the loss is for the US and not for India. While knowledge is meant to be distributed, the same could have been done in India as well. And further, I fail to understand why the family could not have flown Air India or more so a private jet funded by any of the politicians - this should have been the party's money as opposed to the Indian tax payer's monies. Further, we have had so many instances of Indians dying out of unnatural causes outside of India, but this is the first time the govt has come forward - is this a caste distinction?
My deepest sympathies for the bereaved family, but I guess the Romanian professor (not Israeli)was a true hero - he & his fmaily deserves the truest humanitarian respect and sympathies

Well I am above the taxable limits and do pay my taxes - If you have not paid or evaded, please let everyone know your tax consultants details. I will also be more positive on such instances, like you

May his soul rest in peace. My deepest condolences to him.
I agree with you, lot of Indians(Ok Tamilians) are in GULF jails. They can't pay flight fare so they are sufferring there, who cheated by agents. Can send them and make them free...
Why need to fund them.
As usual in India, political stunt....
