Managers are to be blamed.
by Debabrata Parida on Jul 23, 2007 08:35 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Its very true that people leave managers not the company. But NOW THE QUESTION IS WHY NOT A MANAGER CHANGE?

That%u2019s because nobody cares... I have seen even after key or even critical resources leave the project no body questions the managers WHY??? Might be nexus between Managers and the HR.

Employees are treated as HEAD COUNTS... rather than a human being. This is breaks the trust of an employee. He looks around. And the market is such that once you look around NOBODY CAN STOP YOU.... So I strongly believe if they don%u2019t realize now it will be late...

To answer this, most of the managers do their home-work in terms of bad-mouthing their employees and highlight themselves in front of their superiors/HR. So even if their best employee leaves superiors/HR do not take it as a loss. This happens in India and US as well.

Employees leave MANAGERS NOT the organizations! Most of the times Senior level guys (he/she could be a PM, VP or even CTO) who keep on working in the same organization for more than 3-5 years think that any potential GOOD employee is a threat. They identify those GOOD ones and target them till they leave. They will survive for 15-20 years becoming some VP or even CTO or COO bla bla... They always put the blame on the new comers and keep on bossing over others eventually doing NOTHING!

Hey the reason for leaving is not only manager but so many things like

1. work pressure is too much but pay is not gud enough in these companies.
2. Suppose a person starts his/her carrer with 15k, in 99% of cases, gets increment of 10% per year only. that means if he work in d same company for 5 years, he will be getting somehwre 40k at the age of 30. that is not enough,.

Also indian compaines are too clever when it comes about conpensation ansd costs cutting.

And the funny part is wht so called costs cutting they do, goes much more than to the traning of new work force.

Yes totally agree. If a person changes job every 6 months, he would reach the same salary in approx half the time (2.5 years)
