Delhi radhani is strange
by on Jun 27, 2007 03:32 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Delhi is perhaps the only major city in our Great India where there is a lot of hype for joining ordinary colleges in arts and science,Unlike in chennai where it is for the professional colleges(B.E,B.Tech,MBBS etc). This either explains the lack of good professional colleges in Delhi where the competition is usually tough in cities like b'lore ,mumbai and Chennai ofcourse or in delhi doing B.Sc or B.A is considered prestigious( and/or the quality of education is not upto the mark in Delhi) whereelse in Chennai B.Sc or B.A do not carry much value since there are plenty of them.Infact the every other or the every second person.
Also it is very strange when delhiwalahs say i have joined B.Sc Physics (honours). How can one say that? Honours is given after you have meritorious achievement throughout the course not just when you have just joined it.They confuse between what is the major subject and "Honours".Just note this from the author of this article "Here, the cut-off for B Sc (Honours) Physics was 91 per cent while for BA (Honours) it was 84 per cent".
Very much like a delhiite(STUDDS). isn't it?.
So in a nutshell although i like our capital city and delhiwalahs but they are a bit backward when one sees the all-India level.A glaring example is the number of IITians,IAS,IPS,IFS.IIMians delhiites stand nowhere they just pale, infact nowhere in the scene.
comeon delhiwalshs catch us if you can.
One question to the patriotic delhiwalahs. How many of delhiites have received No

i meant how many delhiwalahs(whose mother tongue is hindi, punjabi or Urdu) have received Nobel prizes. For eg.From the presidency college of Madras two Sir C.Venakataraman and S.Chandrasekhar.Please note the alphabet"A"after "T" in Venkataraman. It has to be pronounced not as "AA" in hindi it is a sandhi whereby it is half pronounced.

competition to get in professional colleges id tuff in Chennai, bangalore and mumbai...there is an engg college in bangalore in every nook and corner...set up 4 computers and u hv an engineering college in these places offering 2 courses IT and CS..such colleges just spoil the name of engineering..nd wt do kids graduatin frm these colleges do...queue up in front of infosys or join a BPO...thts yur idea of professionalism...yes delhi lacks engineering and medical institutions in quantity but it has far greater quality than in other cities..delhi university is one of the very few universities in india to grant honors degree with BSc, BComm and BA. It has produced top leaders, executives ever since its establishment...I don;t think any other university in India can match up with the number of courses tht DU offers and above all I think ppl (not just Delhites..bt from other parts frm the country) can think of a life beyond engineering and medicine...nd dude..with no hard feelings towards any part of the country..I have heard that an engineering degree and make yur dowry 3 times in some places down south...if that's true then thank god delhites havn't caught up....FYI..i am an engg frm bombay univ.

That's your quote mr.Insane
Who queues up infront of Gudgaon stephanainites or kmcs or from the J&M of delhi?( is the D in gudgaon a mixture of r&d please do not confuse with Research and Development)Where are u better?Do not just quote some bad examples and then generalize. Stop stereotypes.
"yes delhi lacks engineering and medical institutions in quantity but it has far greater quality than in other cities.."
It is the quality problem if not where are the stars i.e the execs etc etc.Where are the delhiites?I do not see them hardly any IAS,IPS IItians etc i.e the cream of India is non-delhi.

"delhi university is one of the very few universities in india to grant honors degree with BSc, BComm and BA."
once more my dear any University in India provides Honours degree that is after the acheivement not by just joining the college. In Delhi people confuse major subject with honours that is a big confusion in delhi. well it is the case when an adjective becomes a noun.
"I have heard that an engineering degree and make yur dowry 3 times in some places down south"
Well i really envy a panchvi fail jat or a UPwalah for the amount of dowry they get.Dowry is an all-India phenomenon so

"Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar (October 19, 1910, Lahore, British India, now in Pakistan, %u2013 August 21, 1995, Chicago, Illinois, United States)[2] was an American astrophysicist born in British India of Tamil Indian heritage.[3] He was awarded the 1983 Nobel Prize in Physics (shared with William Alfred Fowler) for his theoretical work on the structure and evolution of stars."...source wikipedia....oops S Chandrashekhar was born in Lahore and was an American astrophysicist..but of Tamil origin..nice and he won a nobel in 1983...what happened to nobel producing tamils after that....I think Rajni started acting and they all became his fans with no quest for another nobel...nd yes..out of professionalism they joined engineering colleges too..'coz they felt its a "big" deal....

Is it really necessary to make an issue between Delhi and Chennai?
Do you still think People from one part of India is better then other?
I had been in both part of India and worked with people from every part of India and my experience, We have both Dumb and Intelligent people in all part of India :)
Yes the approach to a problem is different but still they both are best in this world.

dude its not about a spat..its about a feelin of xenophobia tht every person in our country suffers...the problem is we speak without knowin each other..or maybe we are just plain simple hippocrats who are so frustrated being a loser that we blame the other side fr being successful..we never accept the fact tht we are what we made ourselves but keep blamin the system and the "extra" priviledges others are getting..i m lived in 3 of the 4 metros with ppl from almost every part of india..and i thing tht i found out is tht nobody gets free lunch....bt some ppl just dont get it..

our friend Mr.Ashok in his above message is saying that there was some ramaswamy who used to say that he is a south Indian.I always introduce myself to any foreigner as an Indian.
But within India when i introduce myself if the person to whom i introduce is a North Indian he will certainly ask from which part of india when i used to say Madras(now i say chennai)he will ask from proper madras?I reply there is no improper madras. This is because people in the north those who even have a proper education but bad in history nd geography still live in the british India when whole of or say the major portion of peninsular India used to be madras presidency so anyone from south India is a madrasi be it a tamilian, malayalee,Telugu speaking or kannada speaking or konkoni, tulu etc. Many even now do not know that India has been divided into states on the basis of languages.Indians from the north hardly know any south Indian language. They think everyone should know hindi but he/she will not learn tamil or assamese or telugu etc.

What is all his non sense about Delhi vs Chennai. I still remeber a fool from Chennai, who would introduce himself as Ramaswamy from South India. He was aptly asked by a foreigner >> Which country is south India.

Remember not a single soul from India ( whether ANNA University or any IIT) has won IBM Software global competition ever. India was a poor show in most recent competition at Tokyo.
( It was not a tamil or Delhite) It was chinese / Russians / Japanese / Koreans ? americans , who were in the limelights.

Perhaps That is why the initiator of this is name less / spine less trouble creator.

I am not a Delhite but can say that you are utterly wrong in stating facts about IIT....as far as I know Delhi sends maximum number of students to IITs after Kota(take this from an ex-IIT student)...regarding IAS also Delhi is in top 5 along with UP,TN,Bihar and AP.So please get your facts right.
