But how many quit?
by Commentor on Jul 07, 2006 08:57 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Infosys may hire 25k people, but why does not anyone speak about how many quit or were fired? What is the attrition rate? If its something like 15%, and with Infosys's headcount of approx 52000, almost 8000 people actually quit. Imagine the overheads on that note. Of the 25k newly hired, a similar, if not more, attrition will prevail, in which case Inf will have to take the fact into consideration too. So why the exaggeration?

I think Infosys should think that of many of them are on bench.
Why they ask to appear for Aptitude even having 8 or 9 years experience people.
It means those who don't have aptitude are not able to work?
Foolish fundas they use so i alwya hate their recrument process.

Kundan,
Pls get your facts straight before you comment about others. Infact you should talk about your company only and not about other companies. You are just one year old guy in the company and you may not know everything.
I have 15 years of work experience with TCS and WIPRO currently setting up my own company. I have left them to not that there were problems but for my own growth. They have excellent training facilities and decent work culture. Infact all the top 4-5 companies are almost similar with respect to training, types of people being hired etc. It is true that the quality of people coming into these companies is also coming down these days but that is the problem across IT industry. You cannot make loose comments without knowing the facts.
Please talk for Infy only.
Regards,
John

I agree completely with Mr. Rocky (07-07-06). You cannot carry on with deadweight employees whom cannot deliver or contribute to the company. Anyway quitting for better prospects and firing is part of any business. Infact a part of Infosys's turnover might have been dedicated to this account.

Infosys has brought business, prestige, self confidence, opportunity and future to Indian Software Industry as well to the younger generation. With 24 yeras of in depth experience in civil engineering some time even I feel that I should have switched to IT. It is just beaciuse likes of Infosys, Wipro and others. Hats off to them.

i think whereever there are large number of recruitments in one go, the attrition rate is very high. must also be case with infosys. ofcourse the employees will be best people to answer that

Hi folks,
let me tell you something...
It is true that infosys recruits at quite a ridiculous pace. I mean, 25000 people is too huge a number.

I have been with the organisation for a yr. now, and can tell that the quality of people slowly keeps detoriating by the day.... it is quite often possible that most of the people who join are incompetent, and even after extensive training (which i promise is the best corporate training any org. has, in the world), people aren't upto the expectation.
but, at the same time don't forget the state of places like wipro and tcs, where the hired folks are way way below infosys standards... the training there is pathetic, the talent they hire is disastrous... and lastly they are severe underperformers.

so, bad as we may be.... but look at the market space - you will find a lot many more asses than us !

regards,

kundan

  How many get opportunity ?
by Rocky on Jul 07, 2006 09:28 PM   Permalink
It doesn't matter how many quit or what the attrition is ...infy is institution of class...the growth company is recording is self explainable.
Because of it's hiring spree infy is extending employment not just to IITs,RECs but also to low rung-competitve candidates....otherwise i know there sufferngs they would be desperate for that initial break...jobs at MNC's like infy and other such compnaies having enhanced the purchasing power in middle class families, better living standards...and all that...firing happens only when someone does not perform...i'm an HR guy though i don't belong to infy...i c a great opportunity for those employable youths from low rung engg colleges who can start thinking big with this initial take off with infy...and i c this happening it doesn't matter if they are looking for a change later on !!! employment is what matters...to Indian economy.
