Tendulkar !
by prodosh sen on Apr 12, 2007 10:03 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I fully agree with Mr. Gaekwad. Tendulkar, a genius, has to decide for himself, rather than some one or the other suggesting him when he must retire !

This doesn't make any sense
by Dhatrika Chander on Apr 12, 2007 09:51 PM  Permalink

There are lot of people ready to play for India. If the player is more worried about adds how he can concentrate on cricket. Cricket his thier profession not the modeling.. If any player more curious about modeling and money there are several other ways he can earn.

When every one is shouting about the peformance in world cup none of the player didn't come in front and respond to the comments. when it comes to Adds they are responding.

Agree with Mr. Gayakwad

I am totally agree with Mr. gayakwad for what he said.
What is said is truely acceptable. Endorsement, is not the reason of non-performer. You play good you will get endorsement, If not they no one will come to you.

Well, I disagree with you & Gaekwad...for any one on this earth your passion, commitment & intrest in lfe will change accroding to the profession that will get you more money. And for these players the amount of money they earn is much much more than what BCCI is paying them. So cricket money is more or less side income for these people n hence does not bother them much....n hence you can see lack of commitment & drop in performance.

Cricket is side money?? What are you are a retard??

If they dont play good cricket and if they not popular with the fans, they will not get endorsement.....Big corporations are not folls to get a non popular cricketer to endorse their product

It is silly
by sunilkumar mishra on Apr 12, 2007 08:56 PM  Permalink

When the game requires huge support from the corporate and business houses, who r the real royal patrons of the present era, for promotion of any sports in India including cricket, is it not really ridiculous and silly to put such a cap on the number of endorsements for a player? The prpblem of India's exit from the Cup lies elsewhere not surely on the sponsors and which r known to the wise men of cricket. This is only an eyewash and slap on the fundamental rights of any citizen and so is not tenable today or tomorrow it has to roll back. BCCI, if u r serious , dela with the problem by iron hands.

I think Gaekwad should wake up.
by Bill Gates on Apr 12, 2007 08:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think Gaekwad should wake up and retire from commenting like this. I am not sure he knows that Indians were kicked out of world cup less than a month ago with humiliating defeate against minnows. The main reason behind this was Players not giving their 100% as that will not make any difference to their money making stride as they are paid heavily from these endorsements. I think BCCI should have banned players from endorsements for next 2 years and then allow only if we win test and one-day series in South Africa and Australia.

be cool on cricketer. What BCCI should do is tie enhancement fee with the performence, they can do as many endorcement as they can, but if they loose matches or their individual performence goes down, they should charge some amount from the fee. Any comment on this idea?

Tendla...shud retire by himself !!!! WHEN???
by azeem sheikh on Apr 12, 2007 08:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mr.Gaekwad, wht if tendulkar feel he is capable of playing ODI untill 2011 and keep on failling..??? Can't we force him to retire if he is not willing to do so???
The fact is, he will never retire like inzamam and Lara bcoz of crores of rupees he is getting in terms of endorsements. untill tht stop he will nt retire for sure.
Now he is planing to play twenty20 to blast out some domestic bowler and prove some point and stay in the team.

Well saif Azeem. That idiot doesn't realize the amount of money at stake if Tendulkar reires.Come on would anyone especially one close to his retirement to throw away 100 crores because his conscience tells him so.You know what may be his conscience is telling him that he is already served country for 17 years ( read his interview to TOI) so now is some payback time. What a disgrace, how much more he is willing to stoop?

Donot worry, it is only matter of time not very long, Corporates and business houses know better than anybody else how to cash in on the players' abilities and performaces and no business thrives on charity , may be they have still have a lot of faith in Sachin's abilities even at this stage. Nobody wud grumble if he still fires but with so much of anti-publicity generated after the Cup debacle, it wud now be difficult for any player to ensure his place in the team so with the sponsors just for nothing.
