First of all please improve your English. Next one. When you are dealing with such touchy topics, focus on writing some stuffy content with points and quality! Maybe in India people don't care much but people like me would be incensed with your half baked and crappy efforts! I am very much sure that an essay writing 9th class kid in India could write better than you on this topic. Any doubts?

he should be Inspiration for many Indians
by PapaRao Anala on May 01, 2008 11:10 AM  Permalink

he was the man with the character - which is hardly seen in the Indian youth these days!
he was the man who knows any limits
he was the man who used to care for his own country and its children
he was the man with an iconic status, yet stays firmly to the ground
he was the man who has beaten every guy in competition
he was the man who was the fastest on each and every corner of the circuits
he was the man with a soft heart to help and donate lots of money to poor

for me he was the complete sportsman and a great human being.

Simply the Greatest!!
by Siddharth Reddy on May 01, 2008 10:27 AM  Permalink

I know it is unfair to compare Champions from different eras, but when it comes to F1, Senna can easily lay claim to be the greatest ever. The mastery of his machine with his maverick driving style and superior talent blew the wheels off his competitors.

A Tribute to Senna

Probably because of you and your dare devil drive on watery track, sandy track, we college going Indians during those early 90 years hooked to the F1 race, like never before, and I am one of the unfortunate who saw your tragic death Live on TV.

Probably the greatest F1 car driver of modern era before Schumacher actually born on the track of F1.

Hats of you, may your soul rest in peace.

you are an ignorant kid. Schumacher was very much there in the Senna's time!

Infact many agree that modern F1 cars are easier to drive. Be it modern (McLaren Williams, 1994) or older none can take his place. read this:

Ayrton Senna is great, Schumacher is great. But what do you derive from this sport? Except for a priviliged few, this is a spectator sport. Think about it.

This is a man-machine combination sport where technologies and skills are pushed to their newer limits every time. Though such incidents were unfortunate, now the safety levels are redefined after the incident.

Show me a hero, I'll write you a tragedy...

Tragic death..A daredeveil with unparalleled skills and more skillful on slippery tracks when other drivers would quake their boots. Schumacher or Alonso cannot even hold the candle before him.

Salute the legend

you don't know when and what to talk. get lost you idiot! please don't talk about him as one needs a strong character as a pre-requisite!

He was arguably and voted by many as the greatest F1 champion of all time! yep, including Schumacher. read this:

Rajab, you are an idiot like millions of other Indians posting across rediff board.

Senna was the greatest ever any one who had lived and followed the sport in the 80's and 90's can tell you that - even with inferior engines

By contrast when Schumacher was winning the entire competion was dud with average drivers. As long as Mika Hakkinnen was around Schumacher was able to do nothing..When the field went empty after 2000 he started winning more....As a driver with technical ability Schmacher, Alonso or Raikonnen arent anywhere near Prost, Mansell, Stewart...forget about a comparison with Senna.

Oh...This is a rediff board and primarily occupied by morons like "on", Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dhoni fans and loads of other tinpots acknowledging about bollywood and its movies, stars and music and other crap fest and not a place for any kind of intellectual discussion.

Normally I would'nt bother writing here but since its about the greatest F1 driver only second to Fangio, I could'nt resist.

Vijay

Senna is the driver with the greatest technical ability to drive a car and by far the greatest natural genius ever to drive a F1 Car. I concede the point without argument. But leaving talents alone we also need to see what was achieved. Schumann has won 7 titles reversed the fortune of Ferrari and please remember that Senna also complained about the pace of the car at the begining of the fatal season. For me Schumi is better driver as he can adapt to conditions and
driver better on weaker cars. Even with his limitations all titles he lost (Hill Villenuve and Mika) were all close. And remember he won the first tile when Mika was around and also the fact he was the only driver for whom the rules were changed to ensure that the racing becomes more competetive. People have differrent opinions. Please respect them and do not abuse people simply becasue they do not share your opinion.

Thanks

vijay,
first of all, no need to use abusive language.
ur a die hard senna fan... i dont want to argue abt that. for u senna might be the greatest driver.. but thr r ppl who are inspired by Alonso - a world champion at age 24. To achieve this big at this young age is inspirational and he convincingly beat Schumacher... for me Alonso will be the greatest for that sole reason.. and that is my choice.

Seshadri:

You%u2019re wrong in your assumptions. Winning 7 titles in a sport decided by relative speeds sport when the quality of the opponents was dud does not mean much. Also Ferrari were already stronger and their Dynamic Inquisition Laboratory set up in 98 did a great deal in improving the quality of their cars. Schumacher was a great driver, no second thoughts but six out of his seven titles were due to superior car Engines and a inferior completions. Had he raced along with Prost, Senna and Mansell he would%u2019ve just another good driver. Comparing Schumacher with Senna is as good as comparing Carl Lewis with Linford Christie, Maradona with Ronaldinho or Tendulkar with Sehwag.

The %u201Clatter mentioned sportsmen%u201D are class though but never ever in the league of the former.

It%u2019s as dumb as saying to say the winner of Olympics gold medal is the fastest runner ever
Ignoring the time frame and other facets.

%u201CSenna also complained about the pace of the car at the begining of the fatal season%u201D

Really! Senna never complained about the pace of the car. In the previous season he had lost out the world title as he was competing with an inferior car. In his fatal season the then F1 president removed Electronic Traction Control from the car Engines and he said drivers must be in control to control the pace %u2013 Senna opposed it from the start. ETC normally controls the car when it rails the pavement and spins along and ironically the removal of ET

contd....
Removal of ETC was the reason behind Senna s death.
Senna joined Williams-Renault in 94 - the one with the superior car Engine better than Senna s McLaren.
Prost won it a year earlier but sensing the threat of Senna he made a strong agreement that Senna shouldn't be signed as long as he is around with Williams.

Finally Prost complained of risks to his life and retired in 94 and Senna joined Williams. It was the same year ETC was removed and both Senna/Prost opposed it sensing a great danger to the drivers and it happenned.

Point well made..but the neo-indians, post-liberalisation brainwashed with the free-flowing MTV/ Channel V dog-shit and fed on a diet of SRK's, kareenas, hrithiks, abhisheks, aisharyas, deepikas, reshamiyas, rakhee sawants,IPL's,dhonis, bhajjis, tendulkars, gangulis,(pseudo)reality shows, sms voting, saas-bohus ,crappy music that goes by the name of hip-hop-contemporary international or whatever and even crappier news channels and tabloids where breaking news threaten to break your intelligence every time you switch them on can hardly be expected to appreciate the finer things in life whether in sports or in entertainment..a sweeping statement but this is really the dumbing down of a nation and every one - media, advertising, corporate houses - is playing its part..let's get used to the new ways of this "brave new world"

Rajab: Sorry for getting personal...and I agree everyone is entitled his opinions. As for your brilliant argument about Alonso the quality of debate we normally get in rediff- If I am a 20 year old grown up in Bombay listening to bollywood movies and youtube and claim Robbie Williams, Instant Karma, Arctic Monkeys and AR Rahman claim they are the greatest musicians of all time then it%u2019s reflects complete illiteracy in Music more than anything else.

According to Manu Smrithi, Ignorance is bliss. Once self nurturing starts, knowledge spreads like a light and the darkness would fade.

Rajab... U cant compare Alonso to Senna.. Alonso cudnt stand competition.. he made it nasty off field with lewis.. While Senna murdered all his issues on track.. with prost he collided the car and gave up the race, coz he felt it was not justified that he was given the dirty part of the track even after pole..That man Live to win.. End of the day, there are always great men... but there are The Greatest.. while Alonso may belong to the first, Senna is definitely the latter... Never ever compare Alonso with Senna.. Its bcoz he was so good that his accident is rued till today...
