PROVINCIALISM
by Sujan Saraswati on Mar 20, 2008 11:05 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I tend to agree with Colonel to an extent. Even in Delhi, for that matter, Biharis carry a very big influence because of their easy access to the corridors of power. Few days back, there was a similar problem at Bangalore, when the locasl protested against large scale presence of Biharis for railway recruitment. Hon'ble Minister for railways, of course sided with the Biharis. Where is the sanctity of good old employment exchange concept, where the locals used to get themselves registered. Employment is a problem with all the states in the country, so if Biharis are promoted to take away the jobs from the locals, then what alternative is left with the local unemployed youth except to get into anti national activities. May be government should consider to generate enough employment in Bihar so that this problem of getting into somebody else's domain is avoided.

I dont know from which state you are? but 1 thing that all peoples of india are indians are liable to live anywhere.2ndly if peoples of bihar/UP/MP are able to proof their skills n education to beat other peoples then they should be appreciated rather who are weak n not able to clear any exams for job gives such excuses....same 4 raj thakrey who for hos political benefit doing it as he was no where standing in politics so by fueling such issues he wanr marathi vote bank rather than his deeds for state..SO who are weak, coward n have no skill set to do anything provocate such issue so better improve urselfs so that ur deeds speak rather than tongue..JAI HIND

hummar Singh, lalanwa, maya varthi every on is trying to gain their political place in mumbai thats the reason why they are not objecting so fiercely against this migrant. they are looking for the right time so that raj and bala will fight against each other and do some untowards like the one happened in nashik and thru which this northis will get their chance or some reason to enter in mumbai politicaly. This northis should not be allowed to come to mumbai or mumbai will be next after bihar. And if any one really what want to see how this northis migrant are contributing to we mumbaites then go and see at kalwa near parsik tunnel in the morning hrs or at matunga you will come know what max they can do.

Dear Preethi ,
Its very sad to read the kind of venom you are spitting against people of north india . I was lucky to have been working and travelling the entire north India .Bihar, Uttar pradesh , Uttarakhand, and entire north eastern states including west Bengal.Assam .
i am trying to make a small attempt for your information.
1) People like you and me the educated middle class dont travel to Mumbai to find out a footpath and make hut
2)They are as good or as bad or perhaps much more intelligent and kindhearted and less selfish than so called westernised parents neglecting south indians.
3)Its the fliterate of the poorest who gives you entertainment on the entrance of Parsik tunnels for your life wasting journey in the dilapidated mumbai locals.I wish you drive in tinted glassed car.
4)Poverty is everywhere urban and rural alike .Dharavi is not filled with northindians swarming to take away mumbai .Its your own people, converted backwards ,who wants to move upward in Maslows heirarchy of needs
5)All those who are crying wolf must visit north India and see the amount of respect they have towards people of south india for that matter people of north thinks Mumbai i s also in south of India. western india is Gujrat .
6)Just by virtue of filing taxes from Mumbai doesnt mean they are paying from here . the factories and resources are sourced from elsewhere only the head office is here so they file income tax returns from Mumbai.
7)Its the shear economics

India is what the British made
by Chaand KaTukda on Mar 20, 2008 10:58 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It's good to say Maratha's fought for India. In every state people think it's they who fought most for India :-) This India never existed before the Mughals and British forced the petty kings and zamindars to come togother. Before that it was only a region with many kingdoms and fiefdoms always fighting against each other. That's why even today it's the regional feelings that are easily instigated.

Absolutely correct, that's what I've been trying to point out so many times before... except that it wasn't the Mughals but actually the British that united India and gave us the concepts of nationalism and democracy. I'm really angry at the way they implemented their rule though -- they bled our people dry, and we should rightly take our revenge -- but "India" the ideal is strong enough to take these events in its stride and move ahead. See what is happening now, India is rising as a power. But don't think these circumstances were always the same. Whatever barriers exist are created by ourselves - our narrow-mindedness; like shown in the above article.

Does this help ?
by Sachin on Mar 20, 2008 10:58 AM  Permalink

Dear Colonel,

You seem to be a part of the problem and not the solution. I expected better of a soldier who is supposed to have a broader view than others.

As for Mumbai's problems, it is ridiculous to blame it squarely on the Centre. It takes lot more than central funds to turn a city around. It takes grit, political will and the courage to rise above vested interests to renew a city. It takes bold controvertial decisions and an agile bureaucracy to force the pace of development. Delhi hasn't changed only because of the Metro. See the pace of other developmental work like roads, flyovers and rest and then compare it to the work being done in Mumbai. HOw many years does it take to build a flyover in Mumbai ? Work goes on at night in Delhi so as to prevent disruptions. Does it happen in Mumbai ? Mumbai has the richest municipal corporation in India, where does all that money go ? If only our leaders stop thinking about politics all the time can they think about improving the lives of the masses.

My heart bleeds for my city. The fault, dear sir, is in ourselves.

So finally the mask comes off !!!
by Ganpat Rai on Mar 20, 2008 10:55 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Colonel, in the first part of your enlightening article you were giving us some highfalutin talk with history and analysis of rebellious / secessionist movements in India. You dissected the problems of Punjab and Assam most admirably. But it's only now, with the second installment of your wisdom, that we can see what your true aims were. What manner of imbeciles do you take us for?
"Marathas, it should not be forgotten, had fought at Panipat (a thousand miles away from home) against the Afghans to save India."
What India? Whose India? They fought for their rule over the kingdoms of your mythical India, my friend... it had nothing to do with the Indian people as a whole or India as a united nation. It's just as well that they lost, both to the Afghans and the British, else perhaps today you would be living in a medieval KINGDOM in the 21st century, rather than the biggest democracy in the world that India has become.
What kind of preposterous army appointed you Colonel? Nice of you to take off your mask of wisdom and show your true face to us all. Have a nice millenium.

I find it even more sad that such people are still living in India who think they know history but don't have a clue what actually happened. Where did Marathas say they are fighting for "India" or even for "Hindus"? Can you point out any script written by any king of that time in which India has been mentioned as a united nation? Your favourite Marathas fought for maharashtra, not for Bharat. No kingdom in the history of India did anything for the complete India that exists today. People like you are continuing that legacy by distorting history. You are living in a dream world; unfortunately when you wake up you will find yourself in a real nightmare, when civil war rages in our unfortunate country. (I pray to God that people like you open their eyes before such a thing happens.)
