You seem to be a part of the problem and not the solution. I expected better of a soldier who is supposed to have a broader view than others.
As for Mumbai's problems, it is ridiculous to blame it squarely on the Centre. It takes lot more than central funds to turn a city around. It takes grit, political will and the courage to rise above vested interests to renew a city. It takes bold controvertial decisions and an agile bureaucracy to force the pace of development. Delhi hasn't changed only because of the Metro. See the pace of other developmental work like roads, flyovers and rest and then compare it to the work being done in Mumbai. HOw many years does it take to build a flyover in Mumbai ? Work goes on at night in Delhi so as to prevent disruptions. Does it happen in Mumbai ? Mumbai has the richest municipal corporation in India, where does all that money go ? If only our leaders stop thinking about politics all the time can they think about improving the lives of the masses.
My heart bleeds for my city. The fault, dear sir, is in ourselves.
