The Anjuna Police is known to turn a blind eye to instances of robbery, murder and drugs. In Oct 2007, 6 of us were robbed at Chapora Fort, but the cops refused to register an F.I.R. After spending 2 days at the police station insisting that they register an F.I.R, they finally did so. However, the tables turned on us as rather than investigating the theft, they started interrogating us. When we protested, they said that since we registered the F.I.R, these formalities will need to be completed. They called us regularly to ask us our parents names. When asked what was going on with our investigation, they said that they could not find the culprit. They even told us to forget the money as even if we got it, we would not be able to claim that it was our money and hence, forego it and leave it with the cops. They also expressed their inability to nab someone as they stated" we can't touch anybody. We will need to appeal to people to return the goods. If they come up and confess, we might get the goods back.". Is this why we have a police force? If you like to trace the matter, it's F.I.R no. 69/07.

If the police force has become a criminal gang in Goa like in many other places in India, people will have to take the matter in their hands. These are worse than the British rulers.
Police cannot be trusted. They are expected only to rob the ordinary man. When people start enforcing laws, India will change very fast since there will be law and order, more honesty, and more productivity.
One thing the aam aadmi of this land must be certain of - the Indian Police Service(IPS) was never created to protect and serve the masses - they were enlisted as enforcers(govt ghoons), whose 'job' it was to protect the British Raj and its White Sahib overlords against the restive brown-skinned natives - in sum, the police, who were given wide lattitude, were just govt-mercenaries, who were held in contempt, hated and reviled by all. And even after 60 years of 'independence', the police still maintains the very same mindeset, except now thier job is to serve and protect the corrupt powerfull and the moneyed overlords That'd why the police cannot be depended upon to help, assist or protect the amm aaadmi - not now, nor ever, has that been their mission.

I completely agree. People will have to take up the work which police are supposed to do.
Atlast, Ms. keeling's soul may get some relief. As she was a little pampered girl, she must have strayed from the normal life, which happens to rich and spoilt children. But rape and killing is not the ultimate remedy.
The feni stinking Goa cops have no other place to hide other than the sand dunes of Sahara desert. Go there you bums. First it was only and repeatedly told, only drowing the reason for her death. Only 5 wounds that time. Now it is 50 wounds and rape, killing and then drowning.

Kala jal: It was fate. Ancestors of this innocent girl did lot of sins on our pious land. It does not have as much to do with religion as the freedom granted by the Government. Since Goa is a part of the Indian Union we as a people should demand of the Government of Goa to put a stop to malpractices in the Tourist Trade. If one recalls at one time Kathmandu was (and in some ways still is) a haven for drug users from all over the World. This encouraged kids from India to go there too and indulge in drug use. Likewise with Goa. If the Police overlook any illegal activities there as the sole activity of Foreign Tourists it is bound to have a bad effect on Indian Tourists as well.

Because of international pressure, the truth is slowly emerging out of the second round of investigations in Goa. Had it been a poor girl in Goa, the police would have have gotten away shielding the guilty. The Goa Govt should dole out exemplary punishment in this case to restore global confidence in our legal system. He should also take immediate steps to clear the beautiful beaches in Goa of the drug addicts & peddlers. The intellectuals in Goa should team up to make sure there is no easy miscarriage of justice in future as was likely in this case because tomorrow it could be their own daughters or sisters, who could be similar victims.
