It is a good gesture on the part of Pakistan in releasing Kashmir Singh and has to be reciprocated by India. Contiguity and neighbourhood are vital considerations for maintaining peace under all circumstances. Countries far away from India geographically tend to weaken India and surroundings. In this context, it is essential to strengthen SAARC at any cost. There is no sense in allowing if not encouraging the division of the SAARC as a force to reckon with in the world.Ultimately, it is self reliance and defence preparedness which is a prime necessity for any country to sustain and survive where as borrowed strength is just temporary and undependable for any country in the world. Therefore India should stand on its own strength under all circumstances and it has got all the resources to do so.
We are all happy to note that Kashmir Singh has returned to India after spending 35 years in Pakistani Jail. But he has no business to recommend our Union Govt. to release Pakistani prisoners in Indian Jails, because crime differs from person to person. All crimes can not be candoned just because one prisoner is released. Sukumar Rao, Mangalore
The guy clearly suffers from stockholm syndrom. Look at the way he is praising the same people that kept him in dark jails for 35 years. This person lost his self respect and dignity in that rotten jail even to speakup for his rights after the release.

They lock a man for 35 years in a death row cell, he did not see even sun light for 35 years.
They made him lose his religion and possibly who he was.
Only thing that kept him alive was the thought of seeing his family.
He wants to go back to Pakistan to lay a 'chadar' at the shrine of Baba Farid - I think he should be given time to rest first and get his act together before thinking only savages exist in this world. As that the only thing he has experience so far on the other side of the border.
And these people want us to see this as an act of mercy from them- is this mercy, bunch of savages!

islam is a crude and cruel political cult - a big cult, but a cult nevertheless - masquerading as religion that turns a human being into a beast. pls read anwar sheikh's books.
