It is a good gesture on the part of Pakistan in releasing Kashmir Singh and has to be reciprocated by India. Contiguity and neighbourhood are vital considerations for maintaining peace under all circumstances. Countries far away from India geographically tend to weaken India and surroundings. In this context, it is essential to strengthen SAARC at any cost. There is no sense in allowing if not encouraging the division of the SAARC as a force to reckon with in the world.Ultimately, it is self reliance and defence preparedness which is a prime necessity for any country to sustain and survive where as borrowed strength is just temporary and undependable for any country in the world. Therefore India should stand on its own strength under all circumstances and it has got all the resources to do so.
