Maya's exit may bring Cong, SP close
by ANAND TEERTHA on Jun 22, 2008 12:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

SPs closeness to Cong-I may lead to poor electoral gains for the SP due to inflation!! In this drama muslims are 100% confused and a headache since they do not know which party BSP or SP Cong-I they should support!!!
Both Cong-I and SP are mentally sick. And Sonia and Rahul failed to win elections and they will bring Priyanka onto the drama stage!!! Unfortunately senior , middle level and experienced leaders from non Cong-I parties are licking the shoes of Sonia/Rahul and may be Priyanka in future.
Cong-I is a dying party. It has no future.TV Channels and Newspapers have kept it alive.

But its a ruling party and BJP lost the last general elections also. Congress did better than last time in Gujrat, AP and Karnataka . Congress is also better placed in Kerala, MP, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan. Congress is tipped to win in these states and thus get more seats than the last general elections. In UP, BJP and BSP will not do much better than last time.

How can you say that if someone else would have been there it would have been better. Also Atal and Advani never fought for the countries independence. Never went to Jails also for India's cause. After independence they started there agenda of dividing the country on the basis of religion. Long Live Atal. He was only a great politician and not a great Indian. That is the reason no Indian girl ever married him.

No, Winning in the elections has made the descendents able to rule the democratic India. One voice is only one vote. We need to win the elections. They have ruled for the majority of the years and are ruling now too. About future noone can be sure. It will be wishful thinking at present to say that this will win or that will win.

Every Indian girl is and was ready to marry Rahul Gandhi. But he will go for the best. We are all waiting. He is the best eligible male in India. Do you consider yourself better than Rahul Gandhi? He is good enough and definitly better because he belongs to the first political family of the country. Even If you and I don't vote for him, still he might become P.M. of India. Do you think Atal is a better bachelar than Rahul?

Political Pipe Dreams
by PKN on Jun 22, 2008 12:12 PM  Permalink

Let us first realize that the assumption that the SP and Congress will get closer is backed by no logic.
Both SP and BSP are run by regional satraps - Mulayam and Mayawati. The latter has grand dreams of one day becoming and National leader the former has no such dreams. For both of them the Congress and the BJP are their enemies in UP. Both of them to don't mind dating one of the national parties when the so choose but even a serious consideration for marriage is out of question. Remember Sonaiji with her claim of 272 MPs support and how Mulayam pulled the rug out. Or remember how Behanji screwed up the ambitions of BJP after a long stint of being in power with their support.
Let political pundits not waste time suggesting that Mulayum will back the congress just because Mayawati has moved away from the same party.
While making such an assumption first arrive at what Mulayum will demand in return and then find out if the Congress can ever agree to give him that!
Better for the Congress to try and see if Rahul Baba can finally do what he has never been able to do anywhere else - get at least some of the people who flock to see him to subsequently vote for his party . Stupid option but then beggars cannot be choosers!

N-Deal
by sreekanth agneswaran on Jun 22, 2008 10:45 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

How many of us really know what the N-Deal actually stands for? How many of us actually understand how it can help the nation? Has there been any article anywhere where the PM has clarified his stand before the people of the country on the N-Deal? What are the pros and cons of the N-Deal and why the pros weigh heavier than the cons because of which we should go ahead with the deal? We just have random people from everywhere expressing their personal views on what the N-Deal means for India. But haven't anywhere come across any article where the PM or the Congress chief stating in very clear terms how the nation is going to benefit from the N-Deal. The PM should give a widely publicized statement on this for everyone to understand where he is coming from on the basis of which they can decide whether he is right or wrong, instead of letting them react on hearsay comments from self-styled experts.

Sreekanth,
Fully agree with you! But that reflects the quality of the democrasy that this country practices.
Once we vote our leaders in to power they assume and we at least vaguely agree that they have the license to do what ever the wish to do !
People for the politician means voters . Voters that believe are relevant only on voting day.
The colonial forces that ruled India, believed that we were the 'Whiteman’s burden'. The political leaders likewise believe that we are their burden ! What freedom has come to mean is that there was a paradigm shift when it comes to the owner of the burden . Jawaharlal Nehru , the grand old man of Indian democracy once said that 'if the Congress party put up a broom stick as a candidate under its symbol it would win any election in India' That probably represents the contempt that Indian politicians have the common man that they choose to rule .
The solution lies with the people of India . Democracy gives them the right to demand that their views are given due respect when decisions are made .
This is valid for the Nuclear Deal or for any political move that may have great relevance for the people of this country .

agree with both your comments. This deal has technical side and the legal side to it.Better for independant experts to review it and then recommend their stand. The government should make the recommendation public and then take a decision.Any tom dick and harry talks about the deal, while this is a job of an expert.Surely we do not tkae Karat's view as an expert view in this. For us what matters would be the view of someone like Dr Kalam and May be a solly sorabjee from legal point of view. The congress has botched up the process to take this deal forward and now is paying heavily for it

Districts as States
by usa on Jun 22, 2008 09:52 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Due to the intrinsic cultural diversity, it is difficult to 'productively' govern (legislate, administer, justice) more than 2 million citizens.

Government must 'decentralize' 604 districts into states.

It is sad that Advani is 80 Years old and If is elected might not live through this long period of 5 years in office. After all tell me how many people live till the age of 85. So Sonia or Rahul are better placed.

But not because he is 80 years .
