How about doing something about all those Bengladeshis who are making India there home. Are the Left Front Governments of Bengal and Tripura deliberately encouraging them to cross over so that their vote banks get strengthened. How do these people manage to get ration cards, voters cards while people like me who were born and brought up in India and made a conscientious decision to stay on do not get the voters card. How come millions of Indian armed forces personnel are deprived of their voting rights due to the faulty postal ballot system while these bengladeshis are able to vote and determine Indian policies.

Performance of long time minister Subhas Chakraborty is not good. He is trying to show his presence and different by other ways or talks stupid. What is his importance? He was disturbed with a Bengali tv channel during election and made Mamta angry in a meeting. Somnath as MP and speaker is better. Subhas got chance to follow him (like chamcha or tell who was first to take it?

Go take a course in Logic. All proofs of God are written by man and not by God. Please show the proof that you have and I will show you that it came from Satan and not God. God does not divide people but your logic divides people by compartmentalizing them into those who worship the right God and those who worship the wrong God. That is Satan's agenda and I think you are his agent. Be careful. You are headed straight for Hell and that will be in this life and earth when someone really close to you decides to marry an infidel or your own son changes his religion because of your rigid attitudes.
Why is everyone abusing Bengalis? Call them bongs etc. its so funny that Mumbai has the largest slums, Delhi the most disgustging place with killer buses, thieves everywhere...asking astronomical rates for anything, autu guys refusing to go by meter, and you say calcutta is bad...are you guys bunch of pansies? Other cities are not plagued with problems? why keep blaming kolkata? Communism is over in the next elections...Left is going from bengal but i/m sure the rest of india would still go at criticising the city...

Bro Its a common practice man .... There was a survey in "The Hindu" ..it shows tht more than 60% of the top corporate positions are occupied by either Bongs or Mallus.... Calcutta has produced 4 of the 5 Nobel Lauriates in India ( Rabindranath Tagore, C.V. Raman, Mother Theresa, Amartya Sen), Calcutta has produced the only oscar winner in India (Satyajit Ray)....The Calcutta Book fair is the largest of its kind in the world ...it is treated as the cultural Capital of India ....so Calcutta and Bengal is way ahead as far as intellectuality is concerned ..... the people who abuse are either jealous or ignorant ... But there is no harm calling Bengalis "Bong" like Malayalis are called "Mallus" and Gujrathis "Gujju" ...these are not abusive languages anyway
Come on People of W.B & Kerela, Wake up from these anti-indians party, they r not for the development of India. Not only N-Deal they r opposing each and every thing for whcih the country is backwarding.
You see, politicos have too much of an inner heart.
By the way, where is the mid term election? Elections must be conducted in February - May period even if the government proves its strength in Lok Sabha. Those with the bleeding heart for the burden on the country the elections would entail should consider this.
.."a clan that is intrinsically drawn to rebels with or without a cause" - AN ABRUPT CONCLUSION.CPM DOES NOT POSSESS A MONOPOLY ON BENGALI THOUGHT PROCESS, THEY HAVE ALSO LOST THE MORAL AUTHORITY TO CLAIM ANYTHING CLOSE TO THAT. THEIR BASIC POLITICAL FORMULATION FOR SUPPORTING UPA GOVT WAS TO KEEP BJPN OUT OF POWER BUT THE RECENT VOLTE FACE AND SUBSEQUENT ACTIVITIES ONLY STRENGTHENED THE HANDS OF THEIR NUMBER ONE ENEMY BJP. REMEMBER JYOTI BABUS ASKING HELP FROM MR VAJPAYEE TO TOPLLE VP SINGS GOVT. THIS PARTY HAS BEEN REDUCED TO TWO MEN SHOW WHO ARE TO DESTROY THIS PARTY TO KEEP UP THEIR SHOWMANSHIP. BOTH ARE SURVIVING BECAUSE OF BENEVOLENCE OF BENGAL BUT DO NOT LEAVE ANY SCOPE TO BACKBITE BENGALEE CAUSE. JYOTI BABU HIMSELF WAS AN OBJECT OF SUBJUGATION WHO ROBBED HIM OF THE CHANCE TO HAVE FIRST BENGALI PM. KARAT THROUGH HIS ACTIVITIES IS FURTHERING THE CAUSE OF CHINA AND ANTI-BENGALEE TIRADE. IT IS GOOD TO SEE THAT SOMNATH CHATTERJEE IS FIGHTING BACK AS A WORTHY SON OF NC CHATTERJEE. HE MUST UPHOLD THE VALUES THAT BENGALEE INTELLECTUALSSTAND FOR. Remember three major political formulations were founded by bengalees-congress, communist and jana sangh. I am totally opposiong cpms conclavity of pulling down the govt. I am talking about GOI NOT A CONGRESS GOVT. POLITICAL INSTABILITY SENDS WRONG SIGNALS TO OUR ADVERSARIES A LA CHINA AND PAKISTAN. Unseating OF Mr VAJPAYEE's 13 day old Govt was also a shameful act. INDIAN STATE MUST BE STRENTGENED.THATS ALL WE NEED. JAI HIND.
The formation of 9 more IITs have been approved. But the list does not include Kerala. On the other hand UP now has two IIT (Kanpur, Banaras). What has gone wrong with the case of Shivpur and Jadavpur? Is it an act to punish the leftist ruled states for not supporting the Nuclear Deal? I may be just kidding.......:)

Subhendu, True, Bengal "thinks", meet in coffee house, it "talks", .."talks"..then "What do we see on the ground?"... NOTHING. With so many intellectuals and street protests, what has W.Bengal done? GO IN REVERSE. The only state in India that never matches its talking. Your neighbours Biharis, UP wallahs do not claim to be intellectuals, so they remain underdeveloped "peasants". In W.Bengal you are sophisticated but remain "underdeveloped peasants" - all the same. Stick to writing poems, produce another Satyajit Ray, please do not mess with Indian politics. Keep Jyothi Basu and the rest of the communists in W.Bengal itself. They may be useful in Bangladesh also to re-educate the fundamentalist Bengalis there. You may also take back one of your daughters, Sharmila Tagore, now sporting the name Aysha and sitting in the Board of Censors to uphold "political correctness" according to the Congress and the Communists.

Why have you forgotten the two key arms of UPA - Pranab Mukhopadhyay and Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi? I hope you are aware that they shaped the comeback of Congress, good or bad notwithstanding. Even today PM & PRD are the key mediators with Left. Bengal would go on procuding people like Amartya Sen, Tagore, Ray, Rammohan Roy, Sourav Ganguly, Kishore Kumar, SD-RD Burman, Jagadish Chandra Bose. Why go back so may years? Look at the following names and you just feel surprised how these Bengalis have shaped the modern world - 1. Ananda Mohan Chakrabarty (notable for his work in directed evolution and his role in developing a genetically engineered organism using plasmid transfer while working at GE),
2. Narendra Karmakar (famous for Karmakar algorithm which solves linear programming problems in polynomial time),
3. Manilal Bhaumik (whose early contributions to laser technology, helped develop the first excimer laser at the University of California's famous Northrop Corporation Research and Technology Center),
4. Amar Bose (physicist and founder of BOSE corporation)
Not to name a few scores of MDs like Rono Dutta who are heading organizations like Mckinsey, United Airlines et al.
But the fact is that equally significant contributions are from so many other Indians, who hail from so many other states. So why do you demean your fellow countrymen because of a few politicians from Bengal, who are good-for-nothing-fellows.

Yeah thats you do name a few people. If others start mentioning such lists it can go on and on.
Lets go about the facts
1) The sewer system of Kolkata is still the way britishers left it.
2) Kolkata is among the top cities in pollution
3) Kolkata is full of lazy and unprofessional people who are looking for excuses not to work. Thats why you have maximum bandhs and successful bandhs
4) Its among the dirties cities in India.
5) There have been numerous incidenses of girls being molested in public by gangs and no one comes to help. An example of selfish bengali behaviour.
All you people do is talk and talk with no action.

You aer absolutely right Ohida. If you also look at my list, barring a few names most of the Bengalis are successful outside Bengal. So the politicians really ruined the place. But that gives you no right to demean Bengalis as a race, which goes on producing big names.
It has produced 3 nobel laureates, 1 oscar winner, 1 pulitzer winner. Name another state which matches these numbers. Bengalis are brothers to all Indians as all Indians are brothers to Bengalis. By unnecessarily taking a dig at them, you are insulting your own race brother. We are Indians first and then Bengali or whatsoever. But people like you are champions of hatred for your own brothers and given the first opportunity, a Hitler would be born out you killing your own people.

Sorry mr chakraborty pls keep ur regional comments under wraps. I have stayed in bengal know what bengalis are like. Bengali attitude added with communism is the reason of Bengali misery. Bengalis and bengal are far behind as far as development is concerned. How would you explain Nandigram, how would you explain the pool law and order in kolkata where party goons hold the city for ransom.
I was unfortunately living close to south city college and saw the dirty face of bengali politics. Blood thirsy students that is what I call them. Bengalis believe in keeping their homes clean so they throw away the trash in front of others homes.
You can see corruption in everty nook and corner of bengal, right from the moment you come out of howrah station you can see policemen drawing 10 bucks from taxis.
Its only in bengal that you see bus conductors throwign out people proudly.
Its the only place where traffic islands are made and broken (SCience city & Ruby & sector 5 saltlake).
AJC bose road flyover was built by some unknown company... why ?? I guess the answer is CORRUPTION.
Communism has completely ruined the state and is people.

Have you forgotten the underworld of Mumbai Mr. Ohida? Dont you remember the SIMI activities in Karnataka? Dont you remember how Karnataka and Kerala fight over a river which can be easily and equally shared among them? Have you forgotten Gujarat riots and how their elected Chief Minister played the Nero? Have you forgotten the POSCO-related slaughters in Orissa? Why Kalahandi gets repeated year after year? Why Kashmir is still burning, sir? Why Gujjars made such a chaos in Rajasthan and Haryana, dear? --- Do you think behind all these there are Bengalis?? Sunny, corruption is our overall problem. And this would continue as long as mothers go on giving birth to dirty racemongers like you. Hate one Bengali, you are hating one Indian. Hate one Indian, you are hating one Bengali.

and what Bengal does 100 yrs from now, the rest of the country is already doing - PROGRESS? Grow up dada! Sirf bolne se kaam nohi cholega
This debate is not a new one for the Indians. Since the gujarat riots happened in 2002 all the political parties criticised the BJP being communal protecting the Hindus who they think massacred Muslims. But tell me should we blame only Hindus for the riots? Were the Hindus the first one to start it? No. It was a retaliation when our 54 innocent Hindu brothers & sisters were burnt alive in a bogie by some Muslim fanatics( i m saying muslim fanatics having jehadi mindset and not blaming all the Muslims). Tell me brothers that if Hindus r attacked and killed in a Hindu country shouldn't we strike back?
They what wrong has the BJP done in this. They did not tell anyone to kill muslims. This was a Hindu volcano which was boiling in the blood of Hindus for many years & it was bound to come out.
Atleast the BJP is committed to protect the rights of Hindus and not of those who r against or are threat to the nation. The congress has always seen muslims as a vote bank knowing very well that the Hindus will not support them at any cost. Its the congress to be blamed for today's situation. Hindus r not safe in their own country. Its not that we r afraid but we felt much secure under the BJP than anyother party. cong. hv & will always support those who r against the nation to remain in power.
Friends time hv come to choose such a party who gives nation more imp. than power and theres no one better than the BJP.

Dear Khali, An exceptional post. Lots of people, of all communities in India regret riots. There are no winners. Everyone loses. But fanatics think their community has "won". The truth is, normal life is interrupted for weeks, if not months. Property damage can run into crores of rupees. We saw what happened in the Gujjar agitation. Several people died and Rajasthan suffered a loss of production of Rs.10,000 Crores.
Indian crowds can get very emotional and get out of control very quickly. That is why so many rioters die in police firing. In Gujarat too that happened. Even anti-Modi papers said that up to 200 Hindu rioters were shot dead by the Gujarat Police. No national political party, especially, if they are ruling the state, would want communal riots in their state.. because of loss of "vote-bank". Serious caste clashes, which are many times more than communal riots, are also not welcome. As India's economy improves, it is hoped that riots will gradually decrease. It is very important for all sections of society in India to participate FULLY in economic activities. That can happen only through higher education and mixing freely with other communities.
I hope the Mullahs and other conservatives in the muslim community will not stop muslims from full participation in India's main stream.

Kamal, What I have heard from my Gujarathi friends (of both communities) squares with what Khali says. So, I am not criticising him. People from Godhra were phoning their friends and relations elsewhere in Gujarath about what happened at the station.
1) I am saying that whatever our analysis, at the end of the day, it is BAD to have riots. Fanatics must not be allowed to provoke riots.
The ordinary people of both communities should learn to compromise quickly so that the fanatics do not come in. Disagreements between the two peoples, whether it is about some procession or music playing or chanting of slogans or some dispute over holy places, should NOT develop into serious, intractable disputes. The moderates from both sides must learn to "give and take". Then we can shut out the fanatics. If the moderates stand and argue for ever and ever, soon they will lose control. 2) The other point I implied in my earlier post is that on Gujarath, the Indian media got into "formula" reporting. Political correctness was followed by blaming the BJP and Modi for everything. We never got the truth. Even afterwards, some rumours and false conclusions were "dressed up" as "Reports". Fantastic theories about how the people in the train caused "spontaneous combustion" inside, then remained glued to their seats until they were burnt to death. The eye-witness accounts was of a large crowd surrounding the train on all sides before the catastrophe.
