You can see hawkers and auto-rickshaws parked occupying almost half of the road. I can bet that if people stop buying from these illegal hawkers we dont need police or BMC to remove them. They occupy roads because we buy from them. Just sacrifice a little convinience and get rewarded by better traffic
July 5 was really a terrible day to travel. Its not uncommon to experience traffic everyday but its just getting unbearable with days. And yesterday was by far the worst ever. My fiance missed his flight as he took 3.5 hrs from kandivali to airport...n there were many others like him...it was a complete chaos... in case u have an urgent flight to catch...or an urgent meeting...someone ill to be taken to a hospital...its just impossible in mumbai...n the worst...no rickshaw or taxi will ever agree to take the jammed route..n that only increases ur plight
AFTER THE RECENT CONSTRUCTION OF OVER 75 FLYOVERS IN NEW DELHI, ONE CAN COVER THE DISTANCE OF 50KMS FROM WEST DELHI TO NOIDA(UP) IN FLAT 1HOUR AND 10 MINS....THERE IS NO TRAFFIC LIGHTS WHATSOEVER....DELHI'S ROADS ROCK
Its not Mumbai, but in Bangalore if you need to cover 20Kms it takes hell lot of time..... At times to cover a distance of 1 KM it takes more than 30 mins.. so imagie to cover 20 KMS it would take approximately a day.
super fast growth of bangalore suddenly is the biggest cause of this. bangalore grew so fast that indian policies of city development like raod widening etc couldnt handle its speed. bombay and delhis development was more gradual.
Today it took 2 hours to cover 2 km just before the Airport Junciton. A saturday, when normally the traffic is free flowing. Anyone has any suggestions on what we citizens can get together and do about this? Can we demand information from the MMRDA? Can they be forced to commit to a timeline or at least be forced to keep the roads at these important junctions in a good condition? Why is it that when politicians are visiting the traffic suddely becomes perfect. If it can be done for them can it not be done for us citizens too, who are paying for it?

the only solution to this problem is banning truck or heavy vehicle entry within the city limits during day time...like its in delhi

Today I noticed trucks were being stopped in Malad, although for what reason I donot know. But I don't think that will solve the problem of 7 lanes converging into 2. Only ensuring smooth passage at the airport junction can help avoid the huge mess. And surprisingly, the wekk after 'Ho'ble Soniaji' graced us with her presence, twice we actually even flew past the signal without stopping. Thats whats most agitating. Its like we the 'aam aadmi' are totally inconsequential.
RTO's on road are more interested in catching people rather than controlling traffic. They are supposed to be stationed at trafiic signals n control traffic but they are hardly seen doing so.Also to worsen the situation they have this new helmet nonsonse. You never see a cop following traffic rules-police vehicle always seen going in opp direction in a one way road, plus cops are hardly seen wearing helmets. Are these rules applicable to them or not ???????????????
My spouse missed a flight today - 5 July 08; coz it took me 1 hour to travel the 5 minutes distance from Garware Signal on the Western Express Highway to the Airport. This is shocking and simply absurd!!! Someone has to be held accountable for the traffic mess.
Who will compensate me the loss of my air ticket!!!??? Who will compensate me for the additional Rs. 6000/- I had to pay for a fresh ticket to Chennai???!!!!!
The govt and the authorities that be need to be asked the question!!! And made to compensate my cost of loss of air ticket and the cost of a new air ticket!
I don't think that there is anyone amongst the authorities is willing to stand up and own the the responsibility.
The whole experience has made me a very upset citizen!!!
