Look you must demand that your kickback hungry politicians do something besides defraud the country of thousands of corers.

It took some time for DRDO to reach a maturity where it is said to be competitive with the best in the world. We must utilize, and not fall prey to scondrols who are kickback hungry.Every country will offer something competitive to what you have, but something equal or less is not worth the time. We must keep putting such high goal post , test after test on DRDo, but when foriegner comes with kickbacks it is accept the product, without rigor.

It is high time we a nation realized that DRDO achievments. Instead of falling prey to the scandelous politicians and Babus who love kickback. If you did not hear the Barak deal the accuse in the CBI investigation recieved over 400 corers, but still reports complaining slow reaction time, missing targets.Well wont have we been better off with our idigenous system.

You think you can get a kickback from a public sector firm, well it is unlikely atleast not in dollars.

Last, our corrupt coolie politicians/Babus, pay money for their position. After gaining their position they loot the nation, making this country the most infiltrated country in the world. This since the time of British, even Mangal Pande had to give a kickback.

DRDO is a government organisation, period.
by Fab Reens on Jan 23, 2008 01:22 PM  Permalink

DRDO suffers the same fate as any Indian govt. org. Lack of motivation, no accountability, rampant corruption, and misinformed, non-qualified Defence Ministers. Remember Mulayam as DM had suggested giving Pak 2000 Cr. to better relations? Most upgrades in weapons systems have come from abroad in toto. I wonder how many DMs have ever taken any military training? George F. and his partners were caught on camera, and will die in their expensive coffins.

Indias RnD - challenges
by strite on Jan 23, 2008 01:17 PM  Permalink

Indias RnD - challenges

In most of the developed nations, there is a concerted effort on every level of society like accademicians, universities, private sector and most importantly individuals all contributed to its development. Sadly in india organisations like DRDO,CMBT,ISRO etc are all facing few crunches

Lack of young talent - Since IT/ITES offers better salaries, every educated techie looks at thes sectors than joining the RnD based gov organisations. So where does young scientists come from? The existing staff over a period of time loose focus and may not be as productive as young mind. So talent search and managing their aspirations is not a joke in india. As every indian looks for basics of living where as others look for their interest and take up a job.

Negligent and poor inspiration levels: Thos who hail from research background even if join these organisations, soon succumb to one or other political poles within and so cant progress with their new ideas. New ideas are not easily nurtured in india than developed nations.
No VC is allowed in defense research as it is highly sensitive. Except in implementation phase, no company is allowed to get the details.

Making best use of IITs/IISc - This is being done to an extent but still can be done to a greater extent to provide the much needed support to the aging talent in ISRO/DRDO etc. How they do? is the big challenge goin forward

yes Mr.Bose, read the article written by the russian ambassador to india in the hindu. If Russia is so strong, why is he begging software giants to set up shop in russia. Also for many of the common people it is unknown that the russians took us for a solid ride in a project called Magneto hydro dynamics which was supposed to make india self sufficient in power way back in the 70s, the penalty which we are paying now in the form of power crisis day in and out. No country be it USA or Russia has given anything to india at any point of time, it is only the junk and obsolete items they sell and make money. come out of our illusions, if you are not strong enough no one is even going to look back the second time at you leave alone respect you.

Mr Nanchil
Will you care to explain -the truth lies in between-!
I hope you are not referring to Fred Truman's comment to Subbarao in W.Indies when the latter let go a ball in between his legs while fielding
Give a correct picture!

Man you should be exposing this stuff , it is your duty towards the country. We have all heard about this from outside but you are the insider having first hand experience in such matters.

Expose it, put it on blogs, news sites. Everywhere. The common man is waking up they will be on to such corrupt people in no time.

Write a report to rediff, they may publish. That will be excellent inside view of DRDO. We will enjoy reading that.

Why don't you expose DRDO for what it is really is - especially if your stint inside is recent? There might be money in it for you if backed by some media tv, and would be good (though sad) for India to 'walk the talk' in the future.
