I don't know if A.B. Vajpayee deserves "Bharatratna" or not. However, he is far better and cleaner than some others such as M.G.Ramachandran (who didn't look beyond TN), Rajeev Gandhi (who reverted Supreme courts decision on Shaha Bano, responsible for death of 1200 soldiers in Sri Lanka and was also involved in Boforce scam), Morarji Desai (who did no good for the country) etc. who have been honoured with "Bharatratna" in the past.
Vajpeyee is clean and a statesman. He has proved his ability when India conducted nuclear tests in 1998. India did significant progress in financial, road construction and telecom sectors during his tenure.
His performance is far better than some others (mentioned above) who have been honoured with "Bharatratna" in the past.
Among all the Indian politicians Vajapayee stands tallest... Compared to blood sucking creatures like Laloo, Karunanidhi, Karat etc bunch of parasitic politicians he is like one Everest... He is the one who truly did something for the Motherland.... Even though he couldn't achieve all the things (more becoz of selfish/self centred/unpatriotic Indian citizens and fellow dirty politicians)atleat he had the great desire/vision of serving the motherland... Truly his is the unaccomplished Vision.... We Indians being selfish(majority) do not deserve such a tall leader... Its probably written in our fate, we be ruled by creatures like Laloo, karuna, maoist etc ghosts(the modern day Aurangajebs).. People get the government they deserve... Vajpayee's role in preindependence days...students of DAV college Kanpur were conspiring against the British. Police got wind of it. Many were tortured including Vajpayee who was part of conspiracy. Yes ,He is the only politician at present truely deserved Bharat ratna Title .He never did appeasing any community through out his career as politician in our secular country .As a Pm ,he did marvelous job by taking only development instead of doing politics .I think after 1991 ,the year of economic freedom in India taken by Dr. Manmohan Singh,Late Pm P.V.Narsimha Rao .,All these three great leaders deserved Bharat Ratna .Imagin within 17 years of economic freedom India has reached in such a situation that world is looking and noticing India as a superpower with in 5 years .No politics of Congress,BJP in selecting these three Leaders for selection of Bharat ratna .Who ever has nominated him ,it is entire India and Indian is selecting by heart Mr. Vajpayee as Bharat Ratna.I think he truely deserve .A truely humanitirian,poet,versatile orator,great parlamentarian cutting accrox any party line ,Visionery,loveble to any persons in any political parties .He cannot be image of BJP only ,he is the image of Secular India .It is he who initiated diolouge with Pakistan for permanent peace by going to Lahore by Bus .It is he who invited hardcore Mussaraf to Agra summit.I think his effort and Simla agreement by J Bhutta and Indira Gandhi and Taskent agreement by Lal bahadur Sastry and Ayub Khan are the most prominent initiations so far for 60 years of partitions between Pakistan and India .Will all the parties do politics of nominating Vajpayee as Bharat ratna or they will do appeasing c

Mr. Modi For bringing lasting peace to Gujrat after organizing a pogrom
Mr. Pramod Mahajan - For promoting interests of Reliance telecom and ushering in a telecom revolution in India by raising MTNL rates
Mr. George Fernandes - For buying smaller sized coffins for our jawans
Mr. Jaswant Singh - For accompanying the Kashmir terrorists to Afganistan and embracing them
Mr. Yashwant Sinha - For copying the Congress's insurance liberalization bill word to word and tabling it in parliament after BJP had raised strong objection to it during PV Narsimharao's regime

Mr R Patil, I strongly disagree with ur point of view, who said muslims didnt participated in freedom movement in india. If Mysore Maharaja would hav supported Tippu Sultan that time itself we would hav got the freedom, cos of a Hindu maharaja we became slaves of them, and one more thing there were more number of muslim freedom fighter than hindu fighters cos of politicians their names r not shown, and a true muslim never does thing for namesake. It is childish to publicly demand such an award.Mr Advani has been the Home Minister for several years and should know the procedure for approving such awards. By publicly demanding it he is playing politics. If Vajpayee is awarded he can claim credit for it and if not he and his party can stage walk outs in the Parliament and create ruckus as they usually do. Also, if Vajpayee is given the award there will be demands from others. the first will be Mayawati who will demand two, one for Kanshi Ram and the other for herself.She has already demanded SPG cover for herself for trying to equate herself with the PM. There are others who will have similar demands. Such awards should be given as per the laid down procedure and kept confidential till approved and announced by the President. They cannot be made a subject of public debate. Mr Advani who aspires to be the next PM of this country should behave in a more matured way.
1. Since nobody once Vajpayee gets the award he is as good as politically dead for PMs chair 2. If congress doesnt give him the award he scores a political point 3. Since Vajpayee is more popular than him, he gets peoples sympathy for this magnanimous gesture
