Hear! Hear!
Nehru, doyen of anti-hinduism and pro islamism, and his coterie of totalitarian economists screwed up India's development and for their failures did not hesitate to brand the pathetic growth rates they acheived as "Hindu Rate of Growth" suggesting Hindus and Hinduism to be responsible for poverty. Has Congress Apologised for that. The answer is No.
Nehru's poor leadership and pathetic China Policy (despite Sardar Patel providing him a blue print on handling china) resulted in our defence and defence supplies getting compromised, military defeat and territory loss to China. Did Congress ever apologise for this. The answer is again NO.
Those like Saisuresh brought up in a pseudo -environment of convoluted mindset are destined to insult Hindus. No point blaming. Usually such people donot have the graciousness to face upto their mistakes and apologise.
Anti hindu mindset is the reason why our great rate was poor. The Real Hindu Rate of Growth is being achieved by our beloved "Namo" in Gujarat.

good post. the so-called hindu growth rate actually is "secular growth rate" or "congressi growth rate". actually the hindus achieved the growth rate for india despite the socialist-congressim (which is a close cousin of communism). the commies must not be allowed to shift blame and bash hindus for commies own shortcomings. it is an easily verifiable fact that in any part of the world the hindus have been - from day one - at the leading edge of their respective society. if india had a real hindu growth rate - ie a growth rate ahcieved in hindu environment - india would have been a superpower long ago.
The article is well written and very good but I like to object to his use of term Non-Hindu rate of growth... what exactly does he mean by that, does he mean to say slow growth is Hindu and fast growth is not??? that was really uncalled for
Talk about not doing work for others, Iam stuck with small documentation work from the govt. authorities just because they can do it. It not just frustrating but irritating to an extent where you lose your patience. These authorities try to scare the common man by showing all sorts of law which probably never exists or is meant to be used against criminals not ordinary citizens. We have rulers who think nothing of harassing the common man for their own selfish gains.
Can a nation change ? of course if it gets visionary leadership , if its citizens decide to change for better, if we are sick and tired of this corruption and lethargy.
Nations are not made of land and seas, they are made up of people who live there.
You've just touched a sensitive chord in my heart and made me cry.
Even today -- after over 60 years of independence -- after many an Indian has fasted, to the detriment of their personal health, to help pave the way for our common good ... alas, we have seen nothing but debris and waste strewn in our paths.
"Once the independence-era leadership passed away -- and they were men and women with lofty ideals -- leadership passed on to small-minded people without a pan-Indian outlook, without a vision for the future."
There are other things than dissipation that have thickened the topograpy of our land. Tears, for example.
We cannot even rejoice in our forever shrinking dreams.
Let State take up responsibility of Medical and educational needs of all for all ages free of cost - instead State is selling all govt hospitals in garb of Public-Private partnership. Let our nation awake.

This article is a typical of a communist, who supports those whose policies have brought India to bankruptcy (1991 crisis), and points out to the unfinished agenda of development (that the communists never even started) to justify his policy (which sucks!). So hypocritical!!!

Deep, what is so communist about this article? Yes it supports our founding leaders - if praising men like Gandhi, Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Vallabhbhai Patel, etc. is somehow communist, then most of the world would be communist - since these men are universally respect in and outside India. - The only exception would be the mudslinging pygmies within the hindutva camp and even there all but the truly nutty elements would respect these figures (although they may not agree with them).
As for the unfinished agenda of development that you refer to, there is clearly a happy medium between Stalinist style collective socialism and radical, the poor-may-be-damned George Bush capitalism. That happy medium and its beneficial power has been historically demonstrated a number of times such as through Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal after the ravages of the great depression.
I don't seen anything hypocritical or indeed ideological about this article - it is just a decent man lamenting the state of his country. Why see ulterior motives in that?

Wealth sharing has never worked, never will. Something that belongs to everyone belongs to no one - what would be your incentive to work if you knew that a) if you do work, you will be forced to share the proceeds with other people and if you don't work, you will still enjoy handouts from other people.
The only way to reduce poverty is to encourage wealth generation through entreprenurism , tax responsibly, reduce corruption and invest in India's basic education system. If that is your tough strategy I full agree with you but if you only want a populist quick fix, then socialism is the path to hell.
